So I'm about to move back across the country and pursue my Masters at MSU. I bought another truck while I've been living out here the past three years as a fixer upper and I'm trying to weigh my options on how to get it back. It's a 1985 FJ60 Toyota Landcruiser with 208,000 miles. I cant drive it the whole way so I was considering shipping it? Anyone had any experience doing this? I've heard good stuff and horror stories, so any input would be greatly appreciated. Also considering renting a truck from hertz and a uhaul trailer and towing it. Good thing gas is cheap...

Cost me $550 door to door from DC to Nashville. Very easy to arrange with no delivery problems.

There's plenty to price from on the internet. Just make sure they have the licenses, insurance, etc.

Mine was a little more expensive because of the size of the car, and that it didn't run.

I can fit most of my stuff in my '02 SUV and drive it back with my dog. Dawgpile is the company you used national or locally based. If its nationally I'd love to get the name so I can look them up on the web.

But, it was some outfit I found on the internet...An 'auto transport broker'. Google that.

The only negative part of my experience was you have to be flexible with pickup/delivery dates & times. My car arrived at 4 in the morning.

Aspendawg - hate to lose you from the centennial state w/o sharing a beer with you, but best to you! When we moved out we shipped our SUV and drove my pickup. The shipping was about $600 with no guaranteed time but a plus or minus a couple days if I recall. No problem, plenty prices on the internet. They picked it up at the door and dropped it off at the door.
