There is a lot of Masters play on here so I'll ask the bunch of us that will never play there. Have you played the Callaway Tour S? The Wally World must have had it mispriced at 23.99 and I was playing in a tournament so I bought them. They are CRAZY soft. I had to club up the entire round because 6 irons were coming 5 feet back. I played them on different courses with similar results, I hit a 3 wood on a green that released three feet. It kills my distance off the tee and any 3-7 irons, but chips, pitches, and sand shots land in melted butter.

I'll check them out. Golf balls are so overpriced. I love the Pro V1 but it's like $50 for 12 of those things.

although both are expensive.

Fact is, Tom Watson said it best. If you dont hit the ball past the hole, why do you want to draw it back?

The B330 line is good. I played them before I moved to the Taylor Made Penta, the new Penta is out now and it is the best ball I have played with.

and amazingly the rules ofgolf still applywith few exceptions, which are usally spelled out on a rules sheet.

I've yet to play in one where switching balls after a tee shot was one of those exceptions.

Which rules of golf are you using? USGA rules govern most golf tournaments, but the USGA does NOT govern Scrambles.

From the USGA website:

<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="505"><tbody><tr style="font-style: italic;"><td colspan="2" align="left" valign="top"><span class="text_SV">Q.What USGA Rules apply for a Scramble Format?</span></td></tr><tr><td colspan="2" align="left" valign="top"><span class="text_SV">
<span style="font-style: italic;">
A.</span>
<span style="font-style: italic;">A
scramble format is not covered under the Rules of Golf. The Committee
in charge of the competition must determine the necessary rules for the
format.
</span></span></td></tr></tbody></table>

when you get in a cart before a scramble and the rules sheets says USGA rules apply, except....<div>
</div><div>then the Committee in charge of the competition intends for the participants to play by the rules with a few exceptions. And - aGain - I've yet to see an exception about switching balls in the middle of a hole.</div><div>
</div><div>I do not enjoy the scramble format myself, but philanthropy makes it a necessity from time to time.</div><div>
</div><div>And while switching balls is just another in a long list of ways scramble hacks bend the rules, it still doesn't make it right.</div>

Scrambles are pretty much always friendly diversions unless they have some sort of major prizes. I've never played in one that anyone gave a ****.

You made the accusation to begin with. I've played in USGA events and enjoy it.

I also dont attempt to play golf with a toothpick held between my buttcheeks.

You might want to loosen up and give it a try.

And all the scrambles I've played in required monetary payment to be able to use the mulligans. Unless you're that guy that openly cheats with his group and all of you come back with a -14 when none have shot below 85 in your life.

NOTE: I'm assuming you've played in a scramble that wasn't associated with [enter small Mississippi church HERE]. That may be my problem.

Every tournament that I've ever played in includes a rule sheet and most of them use USGA rules. However, most of the rule sheets for scrambles exclude the "1 ball rule" some have even gone so far as to exclude the "14 club rule".

The only scramble that I've ever played in where every USGA rule was enforced... was the State of MS Father/Son Tournament.

I'm perfectly content playing my 54+ holes a week exactly likeI do now - by the rules and with guys who do the same.

BTW,Little League is supposed to be a friendly diversion as well. What would you do if your kid'sopposing coach decided - just for ***** and giggles - that his team was going to get 4 outs and 4 strikes in the next game?

That's what I thought.

politely tell yo to go 17 yourself. No impressed with your 54+ holes a week statistic youvoluntarilythrew out either, how does that make you any more of anauthorityon proper scramble rules?

Wasn't trying to impress you or anybody else. Just trying to explain to gravedigger that I have agolf routine that I'm very comfortable with and I'm not interested in changing it based on his suggestions.

And I was once playing in a scramble when aco-workertried to pulltheold switch-aroo on the very first hole. I asked the guy I was riding with "do you want to tell him or do you want me to?"Long story short I said"if you do that again, you will be playing by yourself".Remarkably, he didn't tell me to #*+% off. Didn't switch his ballthe rest of the day either.
