in the space between 2 soffets (so not in the attic, or in the house) recommended going through the flat roof vs coming from underneath.

$1595 all in quote, includes their roofer buddy and 1 year warranty.

they have (18) Google 5 star reviews.

Reasonable? or Ripoff?

No idea. But in some ( most?) areas it's illegal to kill bee hives I think? So unless you have a bee suit and way to relocate the queen and hive, sadly sounds like an ok price?

I did pest control years ago, but never bee removal. Like bat removal that's kind of specialized so likely a limited number of options.

it's inbetween 2 exterior soffits, I can't imagine there is much room there to build a honey comb. The thermal imaging showed it was a very new hive. I don't really want them to cut through the roof. and they don't want to go through the first soffit to the space in between the second one.

I'm tempted to get the pressurzed plastic weed sprayer and mix up a water and dish soap mix and blast through the cracks at night and follow that up with some Deltamethrin dust. over a period of a week or two, make sure everything in that small little void gets killed off. then eventually fill it with expanding foam and caulk it all shut.

My daughter had this issue. Neighbor with bees was glad to come get them and gave them a couple quart of honey

The key is how to get the queen out of the hive.

I'm wondering if I place a cinnamon stick in the entrance, without blocking it, would encourage them to move somewhere else.

Don’t know much about the bee game, but emptied about 6 cans of wasp killer in the breakaway box on the basketball rim on our outdoor hoop. Youngest went to shoot hoops and came in after her first shot woke them up. Poor kid got popped a few times before she understood what was happening. She asked why they were so mad, through tears. Then it was game on. Still didn’t kill them all after soaking it with spray for a week. Ended up taking it apart and removing the nest. Wasps and hornets are nothing more than flying ********.

They were mad because her Dad doesn't know how to kill some bees.

Good lord, if you don't know how to kill some bees in a nest on a basketball hoop you should not have kids, not have a computer, not have a basketball hoop, not have a home.

I already called off the job.. it's in an inbetween area, so I freaking ordered a bee suit and a big jug of cinnimon and some kind of crevice puffer device..

if the Cinnimon doesn't work, then I will use the Chemical on them. and take that area apart with the multi-tool

Now, I got another dumb question..

the guy who inspected the sofits drilled 1/4inch holes in them to run cameras up there.. he left leaving them exposed, so i covered them with duct tape, but what do you guys use to fill a 1/4 hole in the stucco? I assume there is a mud you can buy?

The bee confrontation won't happen for a couple days, so accepting alternate strategies :D

Deltamethrin with the duster sounds good. Only potential problem is the comb and honey left up there will probably rot and become infected with moth larva maybe. Might not be a problem though.

I’ve had hives . Just kill them with whatever. The loser left luvs them the story. Bee keepers raise queens and hives. It’s not organic. The price is outrageous.

Home Depot has soffit vent covers with screens on the back for about $2. You could put those over the holes, and they would not look out of place.

Have you tried just asking them to leave?
Yes, I warned them to make a deal, or it's going to turn out very badly for them. :ROFLMAO:

I have no problem killing them if that's what it comes down to, but I'm going to at least give it try without the violence first.

Have you tried hanging a sign that says no bees allowed? That should fix everything
I opted for a protest instead.. it got pretty wild. lot's of running around the yard contorting myself into odd positions avoiding what i perceived as mini swarm 'drone' attacks. Hopefully the neighbors got some pics/video

I put those covers over all the holes in my house. My house is basically just studs and vents.
People use those vent covers on plywood soffit all the time. So if you take the time to line them up and hang them straight, they look fine. Nobody really sees your soffit anyway, unless they're a lot closer to your house than they should be.

That is a major ripoff. A sucker bid. $1600 for a bee nest? Leave them bee.

Six cans of wasp killer? Come on man. Find the nest and soak them with small amounts of gas. They will love that!

Have you considered drilling a couple of larger holes in the soffit and Shop-Vaccing them out of there? That's pretty much what this beekeeper did at Coors Field a few years ago (at 2:42 of the video):

So you decided not to spend $2000 to remove a bee nest? LOL. You may have to turn in your man card for ordering a bee suit but at least you are doing it yourself.
it's the off season man.. this place needs a boost.. I don't know if this will be an epic thread or dud, but just trying to have some fun here.. don't take it all so seriously!

Now that was interesting. That women is a bit "out there" but our bee population needs more people like her.
yeah, I've seen her videos before.. amazing that she handles them directly like that.

So, here is the update so far.

Got the bee suit.. chinese cheap 50 dollar thing, but seems like it will do fine for this job. got my materials ready, but it dawned on me that I don't have a new (hive/box/home) to encourage them to go into, sort of like what she did.

So, I ordered this thing I found called the Best Bee Turbo Trap 2.0-

So I will set this up next to the real hive, and give the old hive the cinnamon, and then I think the instructions call you to put 1 dead be in this trap, and it will trap the bees in it.

Not sure how I will get rid of them, but if I get enough bees trapped in this thing, then I will call someone to just come pick them up.

This probably goes down tomorrow..

Dude, you should start charging them rent. They have been in your house forever now.

Might want to check the squatter laws in your area because those things might have some rights!

If that were me, I'd probably decide to relocate them myself. Once they were all in the trap, good and mad.

And while driving there, the lid would come off in the backseat.

Get a hold of that good looking blonde woman who moves bees in Texas. She is on YouTube. She is so calm and relaxed. She doesn't even suit up most of the time when she moves the bees.

Because of all the orchards we have lots of bees and lots of wasps too. We have lots of flowers and flowering shrubs too. I have hanging flowerpots all along the roof line on two side of our patio. The wasps love these plants. I had Russian sage growing in the area between the neighbor's driveway and our driveway. Never again with the Russian Sage. I ended up having to pay someone to get it all out. The bees, not the wasps, loved it. The bees never bothered me, but I got a lot of complaints from the neighbors. The wasps can sometimes be aggressive. I knock down their nests right away and I put out traps for them. We have a separate irrigation water system with great pressure. Most of the time I just take down wasp nest with the hose. I have had them inside the soffits. Then I use spray. In the 20 years I have lived in this house I have been stung by a wasp just three times. It is no fun.
