Tiki, tries to pull the "I don't watch like a fan, I analyze the game" card, and Joe just blows it out of the water.

I thought it was great radio, listened to it a couple times.

There's a longer clip of the whole segment on youtube as well.

I heard that segment.
Joe is almost 70 but he still wants to throw his toys out of the pram when his team does bad.
Mike and Joe both turned really toxic when they were still on full time.
Mike made it his goal to get NY coaches/GM fired
Joe would come on a rip everybody.
WFAN became hard to listen to and players/coaches ddin't want to come on
Sometimes I think teams have karma because the fans are toxic.
Joe should just quit the Jets - he's a laundry fan.
Even if Jets win he'll be happy a few days and then be wondering why he expected unicorns and marshmallows.

I dont get the guys who say they need some team to win before they die.

Joe's teams are the Jets, Mets, Knicks, and Rags. The last one of those to win a championship is the Rags in 1994. Almost 30 years.

The Mets are approaching 40.

Knicks are at 50.

Jets are 50+.

Hard not to be negative with that run of futility.

I never hear Joe rant on the Mets too much
I guess the 80s Met's title kept Joe free of the 60s amber.
I was never into pro or college sports as a kid.
That's saying something too because Jets had their summer camp a few blocks from my house.
I got autographs along with my friends (we rode bikes there) and then I threw them away - didn't know who they were lol.

The people who were kids when the Mets/Jets/Knicks were good are stuck with that "magical" vibe.
I can see where that worked in 69-72 but what's magical about teams today?
Free agents every year, massive dollars, juice, gambling, rip-off prices etc aren't magical

I'm not sure your point.

I just thought the clip was a good listen.

Been watching a bunch of WFAN stuff on youtube lately.

Joe was over the top and it got personal in that clip, but you can’t just walk off. Need to be more professional.

I heard it live and thought Joe was childish and rude. He wouldn’t let Tiki get a word in.

Hosts used to call him at home now and then to get his take on things. Joe actually talks about sports so the spots were good. Then they gave Joe a regular weekly phone-in. Joe had to be ill seeing Rogers go down. That was some bro-vodoo right there. Tiki has epilepsy and might have felt its was better to walk away from the stress and avoid the bro-triggers.

An interesting take on the Jets came from Namath.
Joe was Upset that that Saleh was praising Wilson for doing things right in the game.
Joe felt that those same things were wrong.
Namath had said earlier in the day that he thinks Wilson is obviously playing poorly, but he also thinks WIlson is doing what he's being told to do. So Namath is wondering about the coaching. Jets are long one of the worst teams for QB coaching so its possible.

Right now San Fran loves Darnold and he's a reason they felt good getting rid of Trey Lance.
Darnold was originally a LB in HS and had a BB scholarship only.
His HS QB went down and Darnold filled-in.
He did a great job but only a late camp got him a scholarship for QB.
At USC he was working off his native ability and the talent around him
On the Jets he was going to need some coaching but they suck at QB coaching.
The Jets would have screwed-up Mahomes and I'm not kidding.
Only a dozen teams or so seem to know how to nurture QBs

Geez, he seems really angry. Reminds me why I don't miss the FAN living in south Jersey. The glory days of WFAN and Howard Stern are long gone

I listen to Boomer every morning and love that show. I was never a Craig Carton fan back in the day, but Boomer at least played football and knows a lot more than most.

Benigno is WFAN royalty, and Tiki needs thicker skin. This guy threw Eli Manning under the bus on national television, but thinks Jets fans should give Zach Wilson a standing ovation in public support? That may fly in Minneapolis, but not in New York, Tiki. When you stink you're going to hear it. If it weren't for Tom Coughlin, Tiki would still be "hearing it" too.

Beningo sucks. Guy knows jack Sh*t. Tiki is just boring.
WFAN is devoid of talent. I listened to it for years and years, stopped soon after Mike's first retirement. Just not as interesting as the folks on Mad Dog, McAfee, or even national ESPN radio.

I just put it on as background noise. I generally like Boomer & Gio the best when Boomer isn't acting like one. The actual sports talk knowledge is certainly at an all time low on that station as they go for the entertainment side of things just like everyone else at this point.

WFAN has been circling the drain for years, but this current lineup is just terrible. IMO, Boomer (sometimes Evan) is the only worthy listen on the station at this point. At least he provides the player perspective and talks a little hockey for God's sake. The rest of the station seems to make it their mission to out-"hot take" each other. Between Tierney manufacturing the Alonso locker room nonsense, Tiki having to issue a public apology to Saleh for flat out lying during Jets training camp, Gio proclaiming that Giants fans should turn on Daboll/Schoen if they lost to Arizona - it's been awful. And that's just in the last few weeks.

Never liked Beningo either. Always thought he had the IQ of an orange road cone and would bag on RU any chance he got. I was able to tolerate that from M&MD, as they were legendary.

WFAN is full of clowns all day long with Gio acting like a clown in the morning. Only reason why he got a job was because someone else went to prison. You have Sal Lacata acting like he’s in one of those YouTube videos fighting in the stands and screaming like an 🫏. And who in the blue hell is this Morrsh guy and what has he done to get all of those clicks???

Now you got the biggest clown of all calling back and doing his tired screaming shtick… and I hate Tiki.

WFAN is a flushed toilet.

Not sure why so many are siding with Joe. I heard the whole thing live and he just kept shouting over him and accusing him of not reviewing the Jets game in prep for the show, which pissed him off. I like both Joe and Tiki and it was just one of those days for both of them. I think there are many Giants fans here still raw over Tiki's past comments about Eli Manning.

Joe used to be a decent cfb fan.

When he first started he would have cfb coaches on and after talking awhile a coach would compliment Joe on his college game knowledge. Then of course the pro sports soap operas took over. Now its the soap operas and WFANduel point spreads. Its also obvious the MO at WFAN is to argue and bicker to sound compelling.

Tkik was never a fav of mine after he and Shockey tried to undercut Coughlin. Alas Tiki is a football guy, and he will tell you thing that are interesting about playing the game. Last week he explained how kickoffs are easier than punts to catch because the ball travels end-over-end while a punt spirals and is trickier to catch cleanly. He also said players with big pecs are rougher at fielding kicks becuase the ball bounces off their chests. A kick returner with long arms and flat chest can have a "drop box" space for a ball to fall into.

Tiki must see Michael Strahan's career and thinks of his use of the C-work (to Jenna Wolfe at the olympics.. and maybe she deserved it)...but surprised he didn't use it again there.
