with a DVR the Directv app is a must. Mr. Number is a good one. It's a reverse phone book with comments by users. You can find out what a lot of those no name available calls are.

Flight Aware for coaching searches is a must. **

MSU Cowbell App ... little kids love it!

FaceTime ... Video phone that seems to work well.

WatchESPN ... anything that is currently on ESPN, 2, U, 3, or buzzer beater

GasBuddy ... if you travel any, it shows you the cheapest gas around

Words with Friends ... Scrabble game you can play long distance. My wife & daughter allways have a game going.

Star Walk ($$) ... if you enjoy stars or planets, really good app. Just hold the phone up where you are looking and it will show you what you are looking at.

GoAtlantis ... was really neat to look up and watch Atlantis pass over. Still tracks the ISS.

TuneIn Radio ... (already mentioned) but will add that it is great app to tune into any radio station that streams. Living in VA, I can catch some games or 'Head to Head' with Matt and the DBag.

I'm new to it myself, but apparently it give you the ability to stream all your music on your home Mac/PC directly to your phone. Thus making limited HD space on your phone a thing of the past.

At least thats my understanding. I just downloaded it and the first question was "are you close to your home computer?" Of course I'm not so I have no clue how well it works. It has great reviews though.

Google Latitude works well BUT even Google warns ...

Security Note: To help protect your privacy, we'll sometimes ask you to verify your password even though you're already signed in. This may happen more frequently for services like Latitude which involve your personal information.

Both phones need to have GPS* on and have to agree to share location info.

Not real sure 'how' secure app is and am still looking into it.

**********

* Cell phone, even 'smart' phones, don't actually have a GPS installed in them.

the native weather thing is awful, it's usually 10 degrees off. And if you have allergies, the allergy forecast is cool. Plus you learn what is actually around.

In fact, I live in the third worst city for allergies today. It's a 10.0 (out of 12 maybe?) with Juniper and Cedar prominent.

I deleted it after all the bowls were over but will definitely add it again.

Others:

Skype...not everyone has apple so facetime isn't as useful as you would think. The clarity doesn't seem to be effected.

Dropbox...I am able to access any necessary work files. If you already use dropbox, this is a great ap.

Sportacular is another good Sports Scores app. It's powered by Yahoo... But I'm in agreement that ESPN ScoreCenter is awful.<div>
</div><div>If you're looking for an addicting game, I downloaded that "temple run" crap that everybody was talking about and now I can't quit playing it.</div>

I replaced ScoreMobile with Yahoo's Sportstacular. I'm on Android but assume it's available for IPhone. I like it's interface better than score mobile.

I agree ScoreCenter sucks. I've been using Yahoo Sportacular, which I think has a great structure and is very comprehensive. However, it's not very reliable in that it doesn't always load up. That could be an issue on my end, but I don't think so.

When it works it's great though. I use all three apps when I'm on the go.

Around Me - like Yelp, but its sometimes easier to navigate. really like yelp because you can check in places.
CNet - I always use this before I impulse buy any tech item.
EBay
Abita Beer App
Temple Run - *Warning* its addicting
Angry Birds - Seasons and Rio
Newegg
SoundHound
RunPee - if you frequent the movies this is useful for the wife or GF
WhatsApp - great for sharing media across platforms as well as group chats
Echofon - its for twitter, I like it better than the twitter app because you can re-tweet with comment
SicPack App - oh wait....

others have mentioned most of the good ones.

Edit to add Picture Safe - its exactly what it says, an app that password protects your pictures

Flipboard is awesome. It puts your Twitter/Facebook etc. feeds in a magazine type format. Then you can add a ton of other stuff to be put in the same magazine type feed - for example I have: Esquire, 9to5Mac, Uncrate, Gear Patrol, Engadget, etc. <div>

It's like Shazam but for TV and movies. Just let it listen for a few seconds and it tells you the show, a description, full cast, rating, and a link to IMDB.

I tried it at The Club and the scanner didnt pick it up. It could work other places though. The concept is awesome and I believe one day all store scanners will be good enough to pick up bar codes on phones. Still, they were able to look at my member number on the phone and enter it.

Bulldog Sports Radio. - Cant believe no one said it yet. New update just came out for it too
Twitter - How else do you stay informed?
Angry Birds - Classic
Temple Runner - Addicting, good for your kids
Fox News - Only news you will ever need

Dragon Diction - Type words you say to it
Shazam - Identifies songs playing
Hey Tell - Basically walkie talkie for Iphones
TWI - Always a good one for us men

That about has it covered. As long as you got Bulldog Sports Radio

I recommend RadarScope. If you know how to work your way around a radar and like all the bells and whistles radar has to offer, RadarScope is entirely worth the money. Ineed radar on the go so for me it was one of the main reasons I bought an iphone.

Calendar Tools from iStore for $5.99. Lets you put recurring appointments on calendar. Well worth the money although you really shouldn't have to buy what should already be there. Apparently Apple's tekkies never have meetings on the same day of the month every month.
