Based on your dates, my top 4:
City Limits seafood and steak
Tootie's Country Buffett
Ronnie's Steak and Grill
SSSS Steakhouse

there are a few others maybe that I don't particularly like, otherwise you have usual chain places and Mexican restaurants.

City Limits is hands down the best place in Philadelphia. Lunch and/or dinner…it is excellent food. Many locals go to Tuti’s for lunch. It is buffet and crowded. Porterhouse is locally owned and a favorite for dinner (can be noisy). 4S is similar to Porterhouse without the noise! Junction sandwiches are very good.

I forgot about 4S. Kind of a weird setup by the bowling alley, but the food is excellent.

Lunch -burger at Mr Munchies next to Old Mexico or blue plate at SSSS.

dinner on Tuesday - not a lot to choose from but City Limits is consistent.

Junction nuggets are the undisputed champ. Grab those if chicken is your hankering

In its day, you would have been correct. I have done a lot of business in Philadelphia over the years and ate there many times. Thursday was fried chicken day!

Sadly, however, Peggy died about 4 or 5 years ago. Her family kept the business going for a year or two, then folded. The house in the photo has been razed. Just an empty lot now.

It has actually been 9 years since they closed. I never cared for the sit wherever you can find a seat arrangement, but damn that was good food.

Yeh I knew it was gone just didn’t know how long. Damn good food while she was alive and cooking. My grandmother and I would order lunch and pick it up at the back door. I would run in and drop the money in the basket.

Is SSSS open on Tuesdays? That’s what I want to try but can’t find where they are open on Tuesday.

It’s open from 10-2. They have a blue plate or you can order off menu. If you get the blue plate prepare for a nap! Their online info is not the greatest. Check out their butcher shop while there. Owner raises it all himself.
