I just dumped C-Spire and went to T-Mobile but not satisfied I made the right switch... Let's here from you

Why I dumped CSpire after decades? I travel more now and they suck at that.

Cspire's instructions we not to contact them if I was leaving the country. I was to expect a text upon landing and I would be offered plans. Never happened, no text, account locked. They would not accept my calls when I got to wifi, the account was locked out. I was toast if it hadn't been I was with others that had service. I guess I would have gone somewhere to buy a burner phone.

Even if I was in a country Cspire had service the fee was $20 a day per phone. T-Mobile was a nominal fee. I don't travel often but when I do, I use my translators and other apps a lot to navigate as I don't speak any language other than English.

OH, getting away from Cspire is not easy.. They make it hard. It took me 4 hours at T-Mobile as Cspire would not release my #'s.

Screw C-Spire, I will never go back.

I can't comment on phone plans but here's a possible alternative solution.

If you have a phone with eSIM capabilities download Airalo. You can then buy eSIM plans in whatever country you are in.

newer iPhones are dual sim with one physical SIM and one eSIM. When we traveled to Belize we just bought a 1 week plan via eSIM and aside from the fact Belize has terrible phone service, it worked great. I think it was about $20 for the week.

Xfinity mobile. Service is fine. I wouldn't call it exceptional. But the price is right. $90 for 3 "unlimited" lines and a discount on my Xfinity TV service. And it automagically hops on any business router that is using Comcast Business. So in the back of big box stores, I have full wifi service.

I've been with AT&T for close to 30 years now. Coverage in Mississippi is generally pretty good, just because the network traces its way back to the old BellSouth Mobility days. And since it's a legacy nationwide carrier, it generally has coverage anywhere in the US where you'd assume there would be decent coverage. And I've been surprised how easy it was to use it, for not much if anything extra, when traveling overseas.

Only caveats: it is a ginormous, sprawling company with its fingers in lots of different pies (cable, fiber, etc.), and its customer service sometimes reflects that. Calling 611 for any kind of an issue can be a real grab bag. On the rare occasion I do have any kind of an issue or question, I generally find it's better to go in a store.

Second (and this may also describe every other carrier in Mississippi), the network can get overwhelmed pretty easy when there are big crowds in small towns. In Davis Wade with a decent crowd things can get dicey to nonexistent. I live in Oxford, and last year at the downtown spring festival deal I had trouble getting calls/texts through to my kids.

When I pay off my wife's and daughter's devices this November, I'm switching to US Mobile. Love that you have the option to have all three networks on your plan and to swap between them. Plus, they include hot spots, international data, etc., as part of the plan. I think the annual cost per line if you buy during Black Friday was $167, and maybe $192 per year with the ability to have all three networks.

AT&T customer with 4 lines for about 14 years, never recall once calling them with a service or billing issue. 2 phones in Starkville, 1 out of state and 1 is rural MS but they just work. My only complaint is football game days at DWS, and it sucks, it's gotten better, but it still isn't good. 1 of the phones is regularly used outside US and 2 others routinely and it's $12/day for each the first 10 days (so max of $120) then free for the rest of the month then it starts over after a full month. Free use on wifi which is about all I ever use when out of the country.
Edited: the reason I went to AT&T to begin with was because after 15+ years with CSpire and whatever else they were called their service had become terrible. Every time we traveled outside our "service area" which then was MS, lower AL, a little bit of FL panhandle and some of Louisiana, our phones were bricks. It required calling customer service and telling them where you were and sometimes they could make some changes and get you service, mostly not though. I'm all about using the local companies but they were just not worth it

I'm a bit biased, but I'd recommend Patriot Mobile. You can access priority data on all three networks (At&T, Tmobile and Verizon) depending on who has the best coverage in your area. They will help you determine that. Additionally, you can add the Patriot Mobile One product for a small fee which gives you access to a secondary network for when your primary network is in a dead spot.

You can also call up (100% Texas based call center customer service) and change your primary network if there are ever changes in your area or you move (takes maybe 5 minutes).

Thirdly (maybe most importantly) they only support 1st amendmend, 2nd amendment, veteran, and pro life causes as opposed to all the woke BS that most carriers support along with Glfr

ATT. Never had a problem. If I didn’t have service it was because I was either in BFE or there 100k plus other users in my general vicinity clogging up the networks.

Won't work on my new phone as the carrier has it locked down but if I have an old phone or two without plans that should be compatible. I will get one of those out to check.

Thanks

I had AT&T up until 2011. I was standing in the middle of Houston, MS. I had one bar of service and it was worse in Webster Cty where the woman lived I was about to marry. I had to leave the house and go up on a hill to get any cell service there.

I called them and they said they didn't really focus on remote areas. I told her I was standing in the middle of a town. She said, but it's in Mississippi, all of Mississippi is considered remote. That was my last day with AT&T.
