Yes. I now understand just how far behind the times I am. I went to get NCAA2011 for my PS2and it isn't being released on the PS2...I play primarily while working out on a recumbant bike(most enjoyable workout routine on earth), not online - which i won't pay a dime for. I am not interested in the Wii, and wouldappreciate any suggestions concerningPS3 vs XBOX 360.Football, Soccer andshooter games(call of duty, bond, etc)tend to be my favorites.

You mention that you don't want to pay a dime for online play. Online play for PS3 is absolutely free if you are already paying for internet service at your house. XBox Live does charge a monthly/yearly fee though.

I just got a PS3 and love it. There's little adjustment from the PS2 and online play is free, whereas Xbox users have to pay for a subscription to play multiplayer.

PS3. Controls are the same while the XBox is backwards to what you're accustomed. Of course the online play is free.

is miles ahead of the PS3 imo. If you play shooters and sports games the online play is by far the greatest addition to these games. This is were 360 dominates the PS3. You have to pay $50 a year for online and for good reason. PS3 is free cause it sucks. If you don't play online you should probably get the PS3. The 360 is more for the avid gamer because of online play. If you're just a casual player it won't matter which you choose because the campaign mode for both systems will be almost identical. The Wii is terrible.

I still play Bad Company 2 on a regular basis. I am sick of CoD and it is the same old crap year in, year out.

ok, i'm going to commit to a PS3 from Sams tonight. any suggestions on games outside of NCAA '12? top recommended shooter with a good multiplayer? i prefer 3rd person shooters but it doesn't matter too much. on the rare occasion when the kids are down, the wives are distracted, i get to play with some herms i know so a good multiplayer(outside of sports) would be good to have.

anyone know when the new FIFA comes out? Arsenal is going to suck...

I had a ps2 awhile ago then got an og xbox and loved it. So when the ps3 and xbox 360 came out I went with the 360. Online does cost 50$ a year but it is well worth it and very user friendly. As far as games go they are pretty much even, no one system is better that the other cause the developers make the games at the same specs for both of em. FIFA is the tits, and is even better online. I almost can't play offline anymore, I hate how cheap the computer can be and dick you over. However going against another person is totally different you can read the guy and adjust accordingly. Also a lot of people that play online are for the most part pretty decent so don't give up after your first game if you get croomed.

Don't spend the money in FIFA 11 get FIFA 10 for like 17$ at gamestop to hold you over til september. FIFA is the best sports game out. If your getting ps3 go with the show for baseball, its not on 360 so I only could get mlb2k11 which isn't as good but still decent.

favorite game. It's only offered on 360. It's a 3rd person shooter. Gears3 comes out September 20th. I have played 1000+ hours of that game online. Good luck finding anything that would compare to that on PS3. Once you find the game you love you can play it online without it ever being the same. So it's basically unlimited in the amount of enertainment hours. How much is that worth?

this may be a retarded question - can you only play multiplayer with these(in particular 2) online or can you play on your own console? or, can you play with 2-4 players online on your own console?

if you are going to play online or are curious to try online DO NOT buy the ps3. The 360 is WAY better in online play. The consoles are exactly the same for offline play. The ps3 has a built in bluray player making it more valuable if all you will do is play offline and watch blurays. Online is meant for one person per console play but almost all games offer split-screen mode so you can have 2 players on one console playing at the same time but it splits the screen in 2. Online means you can play and TALK to anyone in the world at real-time real-speed. As fast as a phone conversation is. It's a little weird at first because you are talking to real people and they are reacting at the same time as you are to whatever is happening on your screen. It's amazing if you are good at a game and will provide you limitless enertainment. If you are a casual gamer and you struggle with basic contol of your player than I don't recommend online play because you will get your *** kicked in any game you play. If you do get a 360 send me your gamertag and I'll show you how it works.

I have both the ps3 and Xbox360 and the online gaming experience is equal between the two....only difference is one is free (and your info could get hacked....hence the lawsuit)and the other is paid for.....

the quality of the online connection and the use of the microphone is apples and oranges between 360 and ps3. The ease of use on the 360 dashboard alone destroys the ps3 and that's before you even get into the game where the quality of play is the difference between expert and retard. If you're playing ps3 online you are a **** player.

On the PS3 the laser eye for the disc reader tends to malfunction. I had to have mine service at a facility less than a year after I bought it. Since then it has been fine. XBox has the "red rings of death" which you can google and find more info on than any other topic on the net.

we play/enjoy two completely different types of games. The online that I play it is mandatory for everyone to be using the microphone (gears of war). This game is only offered on 360.

Operation Flashpoint "Dragon Rising" and the newest release, Operation Flashpoint "Red River", are some of the most realistic combat games I've played. You can pick up "Dragon Rising" pretty cheap now as it's been out for a few years. Great game. I still go back and replay it from time to time. I'm almost through with "Red River" now. You'll get hooked!!!

Bunch of Sony fans in here.

I have both... and the Xbox 360 BLOWS the PS3 out of the water in terms of online play. Yes the players on Live are generally better than those at PS3, who seems to have the more casual gamer. Nothing wrong with that, if your a casual gamer why pay??

Graphics can go either way. Just depends on what platform the game was developed. I prefer the graphics on the 360 as well. Go to Lens of Truth and you'll see that the Xbox wins that category as well.

Don't even get me started on connection issues and lag during online play. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! Go back to your Japanese koolaid fanboys.

what I'm saying is the difference? Buy Gears of War 1, go to ranked online match, USE your mic. Play for a week. Good luck, I bet you give up in 2 hours.

I'm thinking of buying it and giving it a test run. My COD buddies are waiting on my review. Is BC3 coming out anytime soon?

i kind of feel like i'm watching twoguys argue about which calculator watch handles more decibels, which means i'm a casual gamer. no offense. i wish time to get better enough to be able to hang in the decibel argument, but 2 kids = i am just buying a new console. probably won't be playing any "online". what the 17 is the internet?

I believe it's 29.99 now. I like Infinity Wards version of COD, but the Activision titles suck.

I'd encourage anyone who's a fan of shooters to at least look into it. Bad Company 2 is probably the most fun I've had in any online game, and BF3 will be running on DICE's new Frostbite 2.0 engine. BC2 ran on Frostbite, so they'll be similar games. CoD is a run and gun, arcade-like shooter. The Battlefield games have a better pace to them, with huge maps and a lot of vehicles (light vehicles, tanks, helicopters, and now... JETS) and weapons. The classes are well balanced, as well. They all have abilities and serve a purpose for their team.

As for the consoles, I've always been on the PS3. Most of the people on PSN do seem pretty casual, but I'm not sure how that's a bad thing considering video games are supposed to be a way to relax and have fun. It's all a matter of preference, though. Do some research and decide which is best for you.
