What a F'n joke the NFL is. Embarrassing tbh, he is one of the best coaches ever. Even if you don't like him you gotta realize that. The Hall of Fame in all sports is slowly losing credibility. Same thing with the Pro Bowl and All Star games. Sanders made the pro bowl and he stunk. The sad thing is when people talk about player accomplishments they bring up how many Pro Bowls they made.

Would love to hear the reasons for the no votes.

Lol the only reason sanders made it is because everyone else told them they weren't doing it. The pro bowl is a joke..the NFL all pro team is what matters...pro bowl is a bunch of challenges like dodge ball and freeze tag on ESPN..

C'mon man, why can't other programs leave our state alone?

Greg needs to set his foot down on this one.
You mean build that wall he was talking about in 2001:). What is he gonna do, you think kids won't talk to a HOF coach

He's nothing without Tom Brady!!!
And Brady would be nothing without BB. Eventually TB became more important but no one prepared a team better than BB. He kept turning over the roster and kept winning. Plus a DC for the Giants he won 2 more.

Being a Dolphins fan, I'm no fan of Belichick, but this is a disgrace. The NFL shouldn't have a Hall Of Fame if someone who won 6 Super Bowls as a head coach and 2 more as a coordinator isn't in it.

For the younger fans who are scratching their heads.

the old SI swimsuit commercial where Bledsoe is being held up by Kevin Greene, you can hear Greg LLoyd in the background yelling 'keep him up, keep him up' for the hit

I'll see if I can find the commercial on youtube

how many of you remember, 'not another Steeler's defensive player, can't put the whole team in' despite the numbers? How long Donnie Shell waited was a fking crime

I don't remember that being an issue when all those players from the '60s Packers got in.

Bill was also a gangster handling contracts and rosters. He won Super Bowls with teams often running on bald tires in winter but refurbed in time for camps. People say Brady is why NE kept winning because Bill stopped winning but I think the lack of a good QB and years of roster tweaks just wore NE down for awhile - and the tires stayed bald. Brady just moved to a team on the rise

This is a fair assessment. Compared to other NFL dynasties like the 60s Packers, 70s Steelers, or the 80s 49ers, there were a lot fewer "no doubt" Hall of Famers on those Patriot teams.

Would love to hear the reasons for the no votes.
Good blog about it here, https://miketanier.substack.com/p/go-fk-yourself-pro-football-hall

some relevant points from that article:

To clarify: selectors were given a list of three Seniors candidates (Ken Anderson, Roger Craig and L.C. Greenwood), one coach (Belichick) and one contributor (Robert Kraft). After a discussion period, they were then tasked with casting three votes for these five finalists. Only finalists who who were chosen by 80% of the selectors would be enshrined.
.........
Selector Mike Sando posited a plausible scenario on X: a few selectors were hardliners about the -gates, a few were staunch advocates for the senior players who assumed Belichick was a slam dunk, a few might not like the new rule that makes coaches eligible one year after retirement. Add it all up, and you get a skimpy coalition of disparate interests that had no idea of its own strength.

Whatever. The Belichick snub is simply indefensible.

He has won 8 Super Bowls, GS hasn't won a conference championship. GS record is 99-108, take out Ray Rice 3 years and it is 73-96. Enough said.
Talk about manipulating numbers. Why don't you take out all his winning seasons? If instead I take out the two years he played with mostly Shea's recruits and the two years he played with mostly Ash's, he's 88-74 instead. You can manipulate numbers to support any given narrative

Belichick will get in...but he has mult issues that should stop him from being first ballet. Too many cheating scandals and then, has lack of winning when he didn't have Tom Brady.
the cheating scandals did hurt, but overall he deserved first ballot.
If they are the reason he wasn't voted in first ballot, Tom Brady benefited from them as well, making him eligible to wait a year ( which would be ridiculous )
As for Brady , he was a big factor in winning, but who is to say Tom would have become as great as he was under another HC instead of Bill.
I look at the results and don't try to dissect it so he looks not as worthy as his overall coaching record shows

One voter said he wanted to help some older players (like 70s Pittsburgh's great LC Greenwood) get in before they lost the chance. He sia dhe figured Belichick would get in someday and he wasn't avoiding BB vote for any disdain

"Bill Belichick belongs in the Hall of Fame. But here’s why I didn’t vote for him"
I saw that and it makes sense. I believe he may have voted for LC and Craig -only leaving him with one more vote and a choice between Kraft and Belichick.
Knowing it was Bill's first year and not his last- it makes all the sense in the world.
