This current season has put it on up there and I think it has everything to do with Omar, I mean chalky, having a big role and more screen time. Other than walter white and John Locke, his characters in boardwalk and the wire are my favorite of all time. I feel that BrBa and GoT are the two best shows since the wire, if not ever.
Eta: I somehow forgot about Lost. It comes in a close second behind BrBa.

I like Capone's character as well but Chalky is the man.

I love BWE but I have felt like this season hasn't been quite as good as the others. I don't understand the total disconnect of Chicago and AC this season. Are they setting it up for the show to be more about Capone than Nucky in the future ? Chalky being a more integral part of the show has been better, but I truly don't like Dr Narcese (sp?). I hope they get rid of him soon. Traditionally the 11th episode of the season of BWE is the best, but, I didnt feel like that was the case with the last episode. Looking forward to the finale, but I hope they answer some of the questions I am still wondering about.
Chalky, Van Alden, Richard Harrow, Capone, and Rothstein.
Each of them really dominate scenes they are in, and it's a good thing. I really can't wait to see more with Van Alden and Capone. Michael Shannon can play crazy-eyed Jekel/Hyde to a T.
Someone has to finally put Eli down, right? You can only betray Nucky so many times, even if you're his brother.
I also hope we're done with Margaret. She's just a boring sourpuss at this point - I'm much more interested in Nucky's you-went-from-a-hot-actress-to-this? piece of gator tail down in Tampa.

It's been a great season. There have been a couple of episodes that have gone kind of slow but picked up the slack in the following(which is what I believe will happen in the finale). It was good to see Gilian finally get what she deserves. And it's my prediction that Eli and Dr. Narcisse will be deceased by season's end. I hope Nucky doesn't take the "I want out" premonition seriously.
Also, for what it's worth. I still think last season is the best one so far with Gyp Rosetti, Joe Massarea, Capone, etc... will be tough to top.
