OT: Brent Pry hired as VT DC

Saw this back when it happened but forgot about it. Pretty wild development. He was fired midway through this season as HC. Franklin hired him back to be DC next season. Has there ever been such a development? A fired head coach coming back to the same team as an assistant the next season? Franklin noted in his presser that Pry played a big role in getting him to come to VT.

My guess is that he did not. Home sales have not been going good. And if he did play a role in Franklin being hired, then he probably waited to see the outcome.

Says a lot about a man to know it didn’t work out for you at VT, but you know your next job will be as a coordinator, so you are willing to be the subordinate right back at VT. Takes a lot of pride in yourself to do that. And it says he didn’t burn any bridges on the way out. I’m very impressed, to be honest.
