Has anyone changed their internet, TV, or home phone services to C Spire. Is it as good as advertised? Any drawbacks? The cost is about the same as Comcast so there is not any monetary savings.

I have the C-spire package installed several weeks now. Very satisfied.

TV service great (using existing coax system in house)

Telephone as good as ATT

Internet great. Websites instantaneous. Download speeds can vary. As high as 850-900 mbps using AOL browser or Internet Explorer. Usually get 450-500 mbps using Firefox or Chrome. This speed varies because FF and Chrome have to load and use plugins that the others have built in.

This speed variance would only apply if the website requires use of the plugin--such Flash Player.

Another caution. Your Ethernet Communications Adapter must be rated for 10/100/1000 mbps(gigabit). Probably OK if you have a newer or higher featured computer. Older machines maybe can only download at maximum 100 mbps because they are rated at 10/100. Check your hardware config.

I think AOL uses a built in version of Internet Explorer as its browser.

One problem with IE is that it can be more susceptible to hacking. What I mean is provides a broader target for hackers with its millions of users. Pick the easy fruit.

Using C-spire it is practically impossible to discern whether a website is downloading at 500 mbps or 900 mbps. This is in comparison to 5.5 mbps I was getting with DSL.

These higher download speeds with C-spire really make a difference in downloading new virus definitions, or program updates, etc.

I am in Starkville and C-spire seems to be bending over backward to provide customer satisfaction--from the installers to their support team. Only problem is they have hired a lot of new people and sometimes not up to speed with their support responses. But they seem to be mproving in that capacity.

First, I don't take technology advice from someone who cites "AOL browser" in the last 15 years.

Second, I call BS on the 900 mpbs. Post a screenshot of your SpeedTest.net results. After the test runs, click on "Share this result"

Regardless of whether he gets 450 mbps or 900 mpbs, is there really any comparison to Metrocast and AT&T in Starkville? OR on a broader scale, Comcast, TWC, etc.. when you pay similar prices for much slower speeds?

Cspire Fiber is a 1GB service. It should be in that range.

I agree. Just install their toolbar and stay away from the browser.
