OT: Chicago Dining

I’m going to be in Chicago on business most of the week. The wife is flying up to meet me late in the week for a couple of nights. Been to Chicago several times but it’s been 5 or 6 years (pre-Covid) since the last time. We are celebrating our anniversary while she’s there. Appreciate any dining recommendations from The Pack. I’m particularly interested in fine dining steakhouse/seafood options. We went to Chicago Cut more than a decade ago and loved it but the reviews more recently make me wonder if it’s fallen off some since then. Thanks in advance.

Gibson’s for quintessential Chicago steakhouse. We hit Ocean Prime in May and it was a good experience. Giordano’s for deep dish. Alla Vita for Italian. La Briola is a solid choice if you want to combine Italian & Deep Dish as they do a really solid job with both. Goddess and the Baker for morning baked goods. The Capri Ristorante in Burr Ridge is on my visit list but it’s a little in the burbs. Next visit probably

Just spend your time in the viagra triangle. Gibson, Maple & Ash and Hugo Frogs (Gibson’s old bar) are all right there.

Sushi Bar downtown by the river is great.

I hear good things about Oriel out on the West Loop, but never been.

Maple & Ash is great. Go late. It’ll be loud and dark. Ask for a candelabra on your table. Your wife will love it.

Been a long time ago now but my born and raised Chicago coworker took us to Gene and Georgetti's when he hosted us. Downtown but off the beaten path underneath the L. Been there since 1941 and had an old school Chicago vibe to. One of the old Chicago steakhouses but have Italian as well.

Love the Chicago Chop House on West Ontario Street for good steak and atmosphere. Good piano bar area as well. Nostalgic Chicago Mafia pictures as well.

It's not fine dining, but it is a fine pie. Hit up Giordano's Pizza some time during the week. I can't go to Chicago without stopping by and eating way too much.

Go in any of those steak houses and ask for one of those cooked in a bag in boiling water steaks and see what they tell you

No mention of Smyth yet. I think it’s the most expensive meal I’ve ever purchased. Two was about $1,500. It was over my head.

The burger bar below (the Loyalist) is good though. Same chef, I’m pretty sure.

II Martian II had some great spots. I will add these from my recent trip a few months ago - Steak - Bavette’s (best steak I’ve had in Chicago)
Pizza - Pizza Amelia or Pizz’Amici
Italian - Club Lucky, DeNucci’s, or Ciccio Mio
Beef - Bari’s

Call Hadad, he just got back
Heck, call BFW, don’t he live there? But then, I saw him eating a few days @ Anthony’s Good Food in Point City before he was to meet Hadad. Brandon the big world traveler now! :)
