I've been listening to the show since he got here in the late 90s. A few weeks ago, he wasn't on and I thought he was on vacation but he hasn't been back since. I'm just curious if anyone knows where he went and why? There hasn't been any explanation that I've heard. Mike and Mathew never even mention him.

God, what a terrible show. I don't know why I occasionally listen.

This happened a few years ago too. I believe he had a heart attack, took him more than a few weeks to come back. He may be having health trouble again.

I have wondered about that too. The show is the worst drive time sports talk in history, but I admit I have it on in my car a lot.

Back before he started the show there was another guy on 1300 who passed a way I think a few years ago whose claim to fame was the horse industry and knowing the mascots for most any college or pro team. That guy thought of himself as an intellectual type and often liked to display his intellect with quotes from famous literature, while Cross was the 'every day' type guy who was purely a fan. I believe it was either the other guy or Cross who had Drew Deaner as a cohost on the radio show. That was back when Drew worked at Channel 27 and billed himself as a huge UK fan often, as I recall, sharing memories of gowing up blue in Louisville. Of course these are foggy memories from 90s or early 2000's so I cannot vouch for the accuracy.

It was definitely Cross that had Drew as a cohost.

Yes. That was his name. Seems like when he first started there was a younger cohost who died from an asthma attack one weekend. Huge shock.

Tune in on Tuesdays and you get to hear Dr. Ben Kibler discuss the effects of sports hernias and the standard rehab timeframe for Tommy John surgery. Riveting radio...:flush:

The show is horrible.

He's had health problems so I hope that's not the issue.

Time to retire?

That's on Mondays at 5 and it is terrible. He used to have Dr. Bistecki (sp?) (chiropractor) every week way back in the day. Cross would sing a jingle: "ABC.."

I think Chris was the program director for quite a while. Now that he is gone, hopefully a new direction. I could do a hell of a lot better show with myself and some puppets.

The guy asked a simple question: what happened to Chris Cross? There are 35+ "answers" and not one person came even close to answering the question. Instead, half of you complained about what a terrible show "The Sports Huddle" is; and a bunch more posted idiotic attempts at humor... This entire thread is an example of Big Blue Ignorance...
