What do you guys smoke? I'm new to the cigar scene and am just looking for some recommendations. Picked up a Rocky Patel Vintage 1999 Connecticut from Hops and Habanas that I'm smoking now...

If you're new to cigars

Stick with Connecticuts for a while (milder). Check out San Lantano (my fave), Oliva, and Perdomo Champagnes.

I'm partial to maduro wrappers myself, love the chocolate and coffee tones they give a cigar. A 1964 Padron to most smokers is the best thing this side of Cuba and really better then a lot of those. The Fuente Anejo is a special treat, only released at Christmas and Father's day (the wrapper is aged in a cognac barrel.) The Liga Privada T52 is in that category as well as the #9 but it is probably way to full bodied for a new smoker. For a good smoke that's not a special occasion I like the Oliva serie O maduros, the CAO Brazilia and the Casa Magna Oscuro. For a non maduro, my favorite is the Oliva serie V. If you can find them the Fuente Hemingway's are released in a maduro wrapper at Christmas also.

If you really want to look like Clint Eastwood as the man with no name, get you a pack of Ramrod Deputies. Actually a pretty good price for all tobacco cheroot..about ten bucks for a pack of five. Having typed that, if you're just now starting to smoke cigars or any tobacco products, stop before you get started.

Arturo Fuentes 858, now and in the future. Work your way up to the maduro and sun grown wrappers. It's my go to cigar whether on the golf course in on the deck at home. Just a good all around cigar that is consistantly good and is relatively inexpensive $6-$6.75 most places.

I don't smoke any longer, but when I did I usually smoked Romeo Y Julieta and Macanudo. I'd venture out and sample different ones from time to time but those were my favorites.
