Please, Mods, create a new forum for "OT:" threads and ban them from this forum. This is supposed to be a sports board and its turning into a social advice column. Gene would be proud.<div>

I thought that the shoe thread was one the best things I've read here since the bourbon thread

If there's already an OT topic on the main page, don't post another one. Wait for the first to move off the front page. To be enforced solely by ettiquette and Germanic-ish ridicule, because it's not really much of a problem.

It's nearly summertime and there is little sports-wise to talk about except baseball until the fall brings football back to us. Gotta find something to fill the gaps. You can always ignore topics that don't interest you.

This follows along the same lines of soccer or NBA threads. Don't like it? Don't read it. We don't need to know you don't watch the NBA. Join a facebook group or something and you can all not watch the NBA together from your basements whileyour 2 minute bang bustrailer is buffering.

So congrats Phred. You not only made the worst possible type of post on a message board. You actually started the worst type of thread. Well done.

Get ready for all the OT's, recruiting, and Books you will never see written threads.

As mentioned before, if you dont wanna read it dont click on it.

And by all mean don't get upset because someone is posting something you dont wanna see on a message board

they aren't going away. If you want to fight them, then just create new threads that get people talking.. A good "poll of the day" always works.

9. This is a sports message board. Non-sports posts should go to the non-sports board. We don't have a non-sports board, so therefore, you should leave now.

2 guesses on why he posted this: 1. Phred lives a life of ballet and artwork and 6pack is his escape from his unemasculated life or 2. Phred lives this, hardcore trailer park style. His wife just served him ice cold meat loaf and he is pissed...

DS and the rest of the mods will start locking them if they don't slow up once football starts. It happens every year. Fortunately this year we will have a lot of Olympics threads to keep us busy.

As for the Olympics, I wouldn't like it if it was every summer but can deal with once every 4 years. I'm not a huge fan of the winter Olympics so it doesn't get old for me to only watch the summer events.

Plus, it is a bit dorky but I will be one of the guys chanting USA on here a few times. Not surprisingly, I enjoy it when we kick another country's *** who has an open disdain for us.

Or non-sports topics that seem to keep popping up. I only started the shoes thread because I'm looking for a good pair of shoes and figure most of the posters here are in the middle to upper-middle class demographic that could help me out on this topic. Everything was confined to the thread so if you wanted to skip over it, it was easy to do so. I don't read most of the OT threads, but when I find one I'm interested in, it always seems to be full of great information.<div>
</div><div>Sure I could use the Google, but getting good information out of Google is really difficult when it comes to doing research before a purchase. Mainly I get links to the shoe manufacturers and little information about which brand to actually buy. It's the same thing with restaurants. One problem with only using search engines to make decisions is that you're missing out on information from actual people, which may be the most important (and easiest) information to get.</div>

I'm genuinely impressed that the thread I started has apparently struck a chord (either positive or negative) with so many guys here. I didn't really expect that. I'm just about like most of you here, even if possibly a little older. I love and support (Bulldog Club priority number < 300) MSU Sports and I am right with most people on their opinions about the topics discussed here. I read Six Pack every day but don't really post that much, therefore the low post count by my username. In hindsight, I probably shouldn't have even started a thread on this topic given the sensitive feelings some of you have displayed.<div>
</div><div>Regarding the OT threads about the Olympics, Tour de France, etc., those are appropriate here since they are, you know, sports. You may have noticed in my earlier post that I said that I don't usually read OT threads. The operative word in that sentence was usually. I sometimes read the threads about restaurants in different towns and other OT topics but even those usually have some sports-related tie-in because typically someone is asking where is a good place to eat when going to an out-of-town game or something like that.</div><div>
</div><div>DerHntr made a good point that, since we are entering a sports "dead period" more or less that threads such as the OT threads are more likely to show up and that actually makes sense. So if have offended any of you (Heaven forbid!) with my comments about OT threads, then just disregard my comments just as many of you told me to do with the OT threads in the first place. Offending any of you was not my intent.</div>

Although this is a sports board, I enjoy some other things on here as well. This board is my daily connection to Mississippi, and helps to keep me current not just with football, basketball, and baseball, but I enjoy seeing where someone has killed a nice buck or what the duck count is going to be or where the fish or biting or what shoes are best or what's happening in Jackson (the thread this week was sad) or where to eat in Destin (or anywhere else) and on and on and on.

I confess I have not even read the rules. This is just a GREAT board and I like the diversity. Keep up the good work.

Ran into a recent grad yesterday just north of Aspen. He had just taken a job at the golf course, and was excited to be in CO. Saw the MSU tag on his Silverado, and chased him down to speak to him. AND he reads SixPack every day also.
