Anyone familiar with? Looking ahead to 2025 destinations. We usually go to Key West or Gulf coast but thinking about trying the East coast next year for a few weeks. Someone suggested Deerfield but have not been in that area for many years and have no clue what it’s like. Prices seem a lot less expensive than the Keys or the gulf.

It’s decent but not a to do there
Beaches are fine and area isn’t overly bougie or dangerous

Interesting choice. Lots of over 50’s communities there that were built in the ‘80’s. People are now in their ‘90’s.

Not familiar with the east coast much other than Miami. Haven’t been to Ft Lauderdale since spring break 1985 lol. We’ve been going to the keys and gulf the last few years so just spitballing east coast locations. Thanks for the feedback though

I have been there. Decent. Easy access to Miami, Lauderdale or palm beach airports. Tri-rail runs to all three. I went to the beach and fished the pier. I did not see a big downtown near the pier. There are plenty of good towns with easy access. Miami, west palm, and I like Delray.

Where are you flying out of?

I would recommend Trenton. I know frontier does not have the best rep but I never had any problems. They did start enforcing carry on size though. Frontier flys direct to palm beach and Lauderdale. Probably Miami but I am not sure about Miami. The train runs north south and stops in most of the towns along the coast. Train stops right by PBI, Lauderdale and Miami airports.

Alligator alley is close to there. Probably around Lauderdale. It cuts across the state from about Lauderdale to Naples or ft Myers. It is an easy day trip

What are you looking for? Ft. Lauderdale is awesome. Race track, casino, music, golf, bars, clubs, etc
Relax. Warm weather. Good food

My wife just suggested same when we go to Marco Island in a few weeks. Maybe take a drive to the east coast to investigate

I’d do Ft. Lauderdale or Boca. Relax. Great food. Shopping outlets. Plus what I said above. And great beaches.

I would do the East Coast over Marco Island, which IMO quickly gets boring. Any of the towns discussed above, or St Augustine.

Will be 30 mins south of St. A in 2 weeks for 2 weeks . First time staying up northeast. Jax, Flagler Beach, Daytona all close by.

i agree about Marco. Thing I didn't like most was no waves. That being said a cheap $100 flight from Trenton (15mins south of me) to SWR to hang out Ft. Myers, Sanibel, Naples, Marco now and again is an easy trip too. (friend just made that trip for $50!)

I'll be down near St. Aug in a couple weeks, Will give you my POV. (I believe you're interested in further south though). When you say Gulf you mean Marco or up North panhandle (which we're always thinking about for or Month of Feb getaway).

Don’t do Destin or panhandle in February, could be too cold

Marco is nice but sleephy
Naples is much better

Delray, Jupiter, Boca, St Aug all great options on East coast

Naples, siesta key, sanibel on west coast

Bring an extra sweater or two if you’re in Jacksonville area in mid February. Great job by the travel agent who sold you this trip.😀

nobody "sold" me anything. We always leave Jersey for the month of February and relocate to Myrtle Beach area (OIB or Murrells Inlet). It was 64 yesterday and in shorts. Forecast is for high 60's to low 70's near Daytona end of month.
Forecast for Daytona this coming weekend is 74/79/76. Works for me.

Sheesh with the experts. Sounds ideal. Not everyone wants to be in blistering heat.

Been in SoFlo since 2004.

Deerfield Beach is a good beach, good restaurants, fishing pier.
Guy Fieri did a show from one there(Whale's Rib).

If you are looking for great local seafood try Pop's Fish market about a mile west of beach.
Or if you want to explore , Cap's Place (only get there by boat /shuttle).

For nighlife head to Las Olas in Ft Lauderdale, or as mentioned Delray Beach (both good options).
Something to do with fam.
Butterfly World in Coconut Creek(just west of Deerfield)
Morikami Japanese Museum & Gardens(Boca)
BTW Japanese farmers have lived in Boca since 1904.

Hope this helps, have fun.

I've been in Destin in mid April and the weather was beautiful, 450 miles south in Miami in late March and it was cold

Like anything else it's hard to predict, but the further south you go (and south of the sub-tropical line, which extends approx from Daytona to Sarasota), you're usually good that time of year

Any north of that and it's a crapshoot

If all you want to do is sit on a beach, goto Siesta Key. Best beach in Florida, imo, and rated as such by independent sources. clearwater Beach is also very nice.

@DennisHajekRC84 one of the best things about north Florida is the old farts think it’s cold up here in the winter. So we are not overrun with geriatrics.
Another reason I’m trying to sell my wife on moving there as opposed to Naples

Granted, I obviously want to be close to Tallahasee and she prefers Ponte Vedra or Saint Augustine, so we may have to meet in the middle

Ponte Vedra to Tallahassee is a breeze on game day.

It’s more than game day though

I like the other sports (baseball / softball / bball / soccer) and want to attend games, and the 2.5 hour trip would get taxing after doing it a few times

But PV & SA are both awesome, and more desirable, especially in the summer

how is OIB? been down to Cherry Grove Beach couple times and really like it , was enough to do for the teens without going to Dirty Myrtle more than once. was going to look into OIB.

I love St Augustine, so many great places to eat and a cool vibe, but not warm enough IMO for March. When I say gulf we usually go to Sieste Key or Sarasota, this year will be first time in Marco.

Our winter spot for many years was Bonita Beach- Naples… Englewood… Temps were almost 100% perfect…. Could hop over to Sanibel and Captiva…or drive across AA to Miami -Ft. Lauderdale in a couple hours . Even taking the boat to Key West was doable.

Now that's weather I can handle. Get a little chilly at night throw a sweatshirt on, no jeans required.

Sheesh with the experts. Sounds ideal. Not everyone wants to be in blistering heat.
When we went mid-March to God's waiting room(Naples) it was over 90. My grey T-shirts didn't work too well. Who the hell sweats profusely in March? This guy. Thanksgiving was better but still T-shirt and shorts it was warm and a brisk walk would get the old sweat glands pumping.
