To give an update on this one. I ended up renewing for ONLY 12 months with Directv. Basically a 12 month contract extension. Called them up twice. First call to them they offered to knock $30 off a month for a 12 month extension to the contract. I said I'll consider it. They come back with "this offer may not be good next time you call" (sales pressure, yeah AS IF). I call back bout 2 weeks later which was tonight. Got a better deal. Keep in mind, my original contract expires 2-21-16. This evening when calling Directv agreed to knock $30 a month for the 12 months + another $10 a month for 10 months + 3 free months of HBO, MAX, & Showtime. Oh and I still get $10 extra per month for the person I have signed up. I tried to get NFL Sunday ticket, but they wouldn't do it. The counter offer was the 3 months of HBO, MAX, & Showtime. My package is the XTRA package which is what I've always had. The 4 letter word for anybody else in a similar situation that you have to say is DISH. Tell them you're going to DiSH cause it's cheaper. Knocking basically $40 a month off was better than I expected, and I don't have to have any contractors in my house from dish to put their system in. No offense but these contractors and worse SUBcontractors that I have seen (from DirecTV) ain't making me feel comfortable having them in my house. And it ain just cause they didn't take their shoes off. I got it on my calandar for 2017 to do the same thing ie renegotiation. Just what I did. Good luck to anyone else.
