The locked thread with BBQ sauce recipe intrigued me. I've tried 3 or 4 times to make one and it always comes up way too twangy. I like hot and I like honey. Sticky fongers habanero is my favorite from the store? Who's got some good recipes?

Its not homemade but quick, easy and good: add liberal amount of Texas Pete Wing Sauce to your favorite store bought BBQ sauce. I bought a bottle of Donald Lee's sauce at Super Bulldog weekend last year, that particular one was too sweet for my taste so on a whim I dumped a bunch of Tx Pete in there to tone down the sweetness. I do it to most every sauce I try now (after tasting it in its original state first) It kicks up the heat factor some and kills that sweet that a lot of commercial sauces have

Do you use a ketchup base? I always thought the Worcestershire left it a bit twangy, but it tastes empty without it. Post your recipe.., I'll definitely try it

For the Delta peeps...is Shady Nook still around? As a kid, I remember seeing it in "handles" at Kroger in Clarksdale. Dipping plain Lays potato chips in it was an absolute delicacy. I know the sauce is a bit of an acquired taste, but I loved that stuff.

Are they still around? And do they ship?

Not recipes, but I love Sweet Baby Ray's Sweet and Spicy. Used to use KC Masterpiece Thick and Spicy, but they changed it up.

I've toyed with my own sauces and just never could come up with one I like.

I got nothing. Almost everything I buy is too sweet. The stuff that's not (like Bone suckin sauce) is too far away from what I consider barbeque. I like wickers for cooking, but not for dipping or on something like pulled pork. But when I've tried to make my own it has not turned out well.

I can't remember what I've tried, probably 2 or three. I know the main ingredients were katsup, Worcestershire, garlic, onion, apple cider vinegar, honey and a few other I think. The smell was very strange as well, maybe my vinegar was bad. One of them was a root beer base but it was crappy as well.
