WPK, do you start to shake violently and have trouble breathing when you see a Ford with Longhorn magnets/decals on it lolFord![]()
You think that, if there's already a car doing over 600 miles now, an SUV won't be doing it within the next 5 to 10 years? Hm.Is that an SUV?
EVs don't need 600 miles of range to be attractive, but this is very cool nonetheless. I'd love to know more about their battery. As a concept car are they using ultra light weight, expensive material throughout the vehicle? In other words, is this scalable?
For NJ, you are referring to the rebate that ran out of funding or is the “no sales tax on EVs” gone now too? Just want to be sure I’m not misleading any friends after getting them interested in purchasing EVs through my saving 2 grand each year over the use of gasoline. My ID4 finally came off the assembly line and is being shipped. Estimated delivery is July - Sept. hopefully the NJ EV tax incentiv will be back.
eta: read a blog that said the NJ EV program will get a new allocation with the budget. But the amounts are reduced by 50%.
another ETA: sad to hear that Ford will run of EV tax credit by Q3 this year. Will have to reconsider my F150 Lighting order.
No sales tax on zero emissions vehicle doesn’t have an expiration date (to my knowledge). It doesn’t required funding. The NJ Charged Up program is a rebate that requires a budget because it actually gets paid out to the dealership. For NJ, you are referring to the rebate that ran out of funding or is the “no sales tax on EVs” gone now too? Thanks. Just wanted to be sure I understood the meaning of your initial post correctly. No sales tax on zero emissions vehicle doesn’t have an expiration date (to my knowledge). If I get mine by September (long shot?) will I get the federal $7500 tax credit? No sales tax on zero emissions vehicle doesn’t have an expiration date (to my knowledge). It doesn’t required funding. I found the info here. Not sure if it’s reliable. But sounds like you will qualify for some if not all of the federal tax credit. Can’t comment on the interface because I never used it before. Not being able to upgrade seems silly in todays world. If I get mine by September (long shot?) will I get the federal $7500 tax credit?
Are you at all deterred by the 2023 F150 Lightning having a brand new Android/Google-Sync interface, while the 2022 F150 Lightning having Sync4, which is not upgradeable? I'm mildly peeved, but will probably still take the vehicle. If they run out of $7500 credits, I may pass.
@Knight Shift Yes, I know he is a bit goofy, but I remember seeing this video about the F150 Lightning tax credits. According to him, they will go into early next year. By the way, you may have already mentioned this but did you get a Maverick hybrid or Eco?If I get mine by September (long shot?) will I get the federal $7500 tax credit?

Yes, very dumb for Ford to roll out a new model with an old interface, and then replace it in the second model year with no chance of upgrading.I found the info here. Not sure if it’s reliable. Regarding the car’s tech‘s operating system, how much do you really care about digital tech in the car? For me, I really don’t care that much.If I get mine by September (long shot?) will I get the federal $7500 tax credit?

Well, when your phone connects to the car via bluetooth, it is a big deal. I had to resort to turning off bluetooth on the Sync3 in my Maverick. Otherwise, I don't get my fire call alerts. Since the Bluetooth microphone on my Maverick sucks and was put in a stupid place (on the a pillar right behind the windshield), I guess that is another positive.Regarding the car’s tech‘s operating system, how much do you really care about digital tech in the car? I mean, I would care a little when buying it and looking at specs versus other cars, I guess. But when actually driving cars, I doubt seriously I’d ever care about non-automotive tech. The tech in the ECU matters to me. That’s the stuff that deals with ABS or 4 wheel steering or dynamic suspension controls.
But the stuff running behind the car’s display? I haven’t even exercised half of what my newest cars can do. Just not interesting to me.
You gotta wonder, will you ever really notice what OS is running? I probably would not, I’m guessing.
I wonder how many car manufacturers are aware of issues like this. You'd think that first responder types could make this more well known and get them to find a fix.Well, when your phone connects to the car via bluetooth, it is a big deal. And if I want to run Google Maps or Waze on the display screen, I must be connected via Bluetooth. But I can just keep the phone disconnected from the system and run Waze off the phone. I did not have these problems with the Audi.
