Well this is interesting. You can always stockpile emergency fuel, can you stockpile batteries as well?

Battery storage solutions are being rapidly developed around the globe.

In practice, the vast majority of people don't, and will not in the future, stockpile either thing. Also, for those who do stockpile fuel, they can use it for generators to charge their EV or hybrid batteries. Natural gas powered generators can as well.

The ban mentioned in the article is due to the Ukraine conflict, to address power shortages. Stockpiling fuel might become a bit of a thing, but everybody in Europe is going to feel the pinch this Winter no matter what. Might be best to stockpile wood to burn for heat in some areas.

This argument that the energy grid cannot support EVs is nonsense. It's just another talking point created by the fossil fuel industry that the useful idiots parrot.

US energy capacity increases every year. Non subsidized solar is now the cheapest form of energy generation. The total transition to EVs isn't happening tomorrow, or next year, or this decade. As EVs grow, so will the energy grid and stationary storage.

But it only covers Musk’s companies. This is a marketing site.

ETA: it’s run by guys who are “extremely long term Tesla and SpaceX investors.
It’s propaganda at best. A slurpfest. Gonad gargling groupies.

What possesses people to subjugate themselves to people or brands this way? I will never understand it.

Tesla's chief of design talks Cybertruck and more.

That dude should be arrested for having committed the cyber truck design offense. Is there an uglier truck design in the last decade? I think not.

Who designed the Tesla semi? Was it the same guy or someone else? ‘Cause that truck is decent looking.

What is a site in marketing?

A marketing website often has the following:

A sales page where visitors can book services and lists reviews, benefits and features. And/or an online store. A blog that builds authority and promotes your product. A social media plugin that visitors can use to share your posts. Links to your social media pages.

@Knight Shift any solution to the R magnet?

I’m getting a transfer switch and a 240v outlet installed next week. Hopefully, it will all work like it’s supposed to. Also, I’m not the only Lighting in town anymore. Interestingly enough, there are a more Rivian trucks than Lighting.

I was going to get a trailer hitch cover and stick the magnet on the cover, but I found a cover with a red block R on the cover on Amazon. Will be interested how the install goes.

Found a place that does custom hitch covers. Just need a graphic artist to get my idea on paper for them to make it. I’m thinking the outline of NJ with a block R on top of it.

@jtung230 this is what it looks like. I heard it increases range by 30-50 miles too-during mens basketball season. 😜

I need this. My mileage has gone down since it got colder and I've had to use gas to do the trip to and from JMA. Besides, I wanted this SUV and the only one I could find in the NY, NJ, Conn area had a trailer hitch which I will never ever use. Now I won't ever need to buy gas 😉

FYI - I have been noticing a bunch of Rivian SUVs and trucks driving around the Princeton area. Very distinctive, so they stand out.

The look is growing on me, the through compartment behind the cab is awesome, but the front look still looks too much like Rosie the Robot from the Jetsons. Nice truck though.

As the say goes, your mileage may vary.
Unfortunately I forgot to remove mine when I sold my last car. Can you order it anywhere?
If you Google "AMG Rutgers Trailer Hitch Cover" you will get several places selling them. Amazon had them the cheapest, $39.95.

Great news that Ford is requiring dealers that want to sell EVs to install fast charging stations. Hope the dealership in town signs up.

They had mine plugged into a 110 outlet. What a joke. There should be a bank of 4-8 chargers outside the dealership in Point Pleasant.

did you get 1 mile of range for that charge? Btw, YouTube has a few videos on cold weather impact on range for the Lighting. Results were not great. I will track it myself starting next week. I have a 1k miles on it and I’m avg 2 miles/kw.

Probably the biggest surprise during the Tesla Semi delivery event was that the upcoming Cybertruck will be able to charge using the new version 4 Megachargers at speeds up to 1 MW (1,000 kW). It was already known the Semi would be using these new chargers, but for Cybertruck, this is big news, especially for long haul towing and rapid recharge. For reference, Tesla's current V3 superchargers can charge up to 250 kW. Some EA chargers can charge up to 350 kW. What the charging curve will look like remains a mystery, but if Cybertruck is able to charge at 1 MW for even a short period, it will drastically reduce charging times.
Peak rates for other EV pickups:
The Ford Lightning 155 kW.
Rivian R1T 200 kW
Chevy Silverado EV 350 kW (not verified)
