Paywalled article. But there's no doubt that automated driving systems are causing, and will continue to cause accidents. Not just Teslas. Until V2X is ready, it's a technology I'd like to see legislated off public roads.17 fatalities, 736 crashes: The shocking toll of Tesla’s Autopilot
Maybe he thought he had a yoke and pulled back to see if the car would take off.The wheels on the bus keep falling off, falling off, falling off. Guess he should've got a yoke.
Toyota continues to be not serious about EVs. Maybe they will go to the tried and true - Copying others and doing it better and cheaper. At some point. Maybe. In about 10 years.
Solid state batteries will be here within 10 years so the timeline checks out. Makes sense they hold out for this. If they don’t adapt they will be out of business.Who are they copying? Who is putting out an all solid estate battery? Why do you think they are not serious.
Who knows what's gonna happen in the future. Toyota might well wind up having been smarter than the rest.Meh. Toyota's doing just fine without tripping over itself to do the cool, new thing.
Wake us in 10 years when it's fallen so far behind.
They're not copying anyone, nor are they innovating on their own. Their market share in Europe and China is plummeting because of a lack of EV offerings. That's the problem and it looks like their shareholders are outraged.Who are they copying? Who is putting out an all solid estate battery? Why do you think they are not serious.

Funny Tesla fan club calling out others for making pie in the sky proclamations. They're not copying anyone, nor are they innovating on their own. What makes you think they are serious? Making pie in the sky proclamations about 2027? Only recently benchmarking a Model Y? Or perhaps the anti-EV propaganda they've been pushing for years? I'm confused

Sears and Eastman KodakAnd the award for world's largest automaker still goes to ...
Lol....ok. Tesla makes EVs. So you believe Toyota is serious about EVs? Surely you don't, but feel compelled to defend them. Odd.Funny Tesla fan club calling out others for making pie in the sky proclamations.
They got by with a stellar reputation for reliability for decades. Always amazed me how they could sell so many cars that weren't the least expensive, weren't attractive, weren't out-performing others in any way except that they were reliable for many years.Smarter, but with horrific styling and cheap interior components!

Now most other brands are pretty reliable and companies like Mazda and Hyundai/Kia are putting out much nicer cars.
When typical readers stop swarming the lowest common denominator like moths to light?"Tesla killer" makes for good clickbait, but they're not killing anyone. Don't bother opening. When will these articles stop?

I’m defending them? Literally responding to Tesla fan club getting worked up by the announcement. The irony.Lol....ok. Tesla makes EVs. So you believe Toyota is serious about EVs? Surely you don't, but feel compelled to defend them. Odd.
Funny how the their latest proclamation came 1 day before their annual shareholder meeting. Coincidence?
Here's another one from 2017.... Literally the same article from yesterday about their battery "technological breakthrough"

Classic Kabuki theater which has nothing to do with Tesla.
He's not going to understand the distinction. When people fetishsize something (like a car brand), they often subconsciously project similar thought/behavior onto others to try and resolve the inner conflict caused by knowing that what they're doing is not quite normal.I’m defending them? Worked up? Hardly. Comic reliefI’m defending them? Literally responding to Tesla fan club getting worked up by the announcement. The irony.
Hey dipshit, there's one guy on here who's been correct more than anyone else in predicting how EV disruption will shake out... ME. You and @jtung230 are the tools obsessed with Tesla. I'm talking about Toyota and you 2 donkeys keep dragging Tesla into the conversation. He's not going to understand the distinction. He thinks we should all view Toyota's position on EVs the same way he does. And when we don't, we must be "defending" Toyota. In his mind, it cannot be that we just don't care and mostly view the cultish attacks on other brands highly mock-worthy.

Toyota is ****ed. Just like many other industry giants who were slow/reluctant to adapt to disruptive technology. You think they're playing coy with an ace up their sleeve despite being laggards in everything EV related. You'll be wrong....again.

We get it. No one can do EVs but Tesla. They are the best. Other car makers are jokes. It took Tesla no time at all to mass produce their product. The top 5 selling cars are Toyotas. They are in deep crap.Hey dipshit, there's one guy on here who's been correct more than anyone else in predicting how EV disruption will shake out... ME. No disrespect to sedan owners, but not being in the market for them, I don’t much notice sedans in general, especially 15 year old ones. I’m just going off what Consumer reports and some of the other ratings organizations have said over the years. Toyotas always seem to do well on those, although I’m not so sure they’re looking at 15 year old cars for those rankings.Toyota always struck me as being the Japanese Ford, if you will. They're HUGE into fleet sales, both here in the U.S. and abroad. But yeah... have you ever seen a 15 year-old Camry that didn't have peeling paint and trim missing or falling off?
Thanks for making my point so emphatically. You’re a smart enough guy but you are so wrapped up in your adoration of a brand that you can’t see how it colors everything you post in this thread.Hey dipshit, there's one guy on here who's been correct more than anyone else in predicting how EV disruption will shake out... The only Toyota I owned was an MR2 and I blew the engine right around the 10 year mark. Now that I think about it, when the engine blew, there was no rust at all yet. Not garaged. And the car had zero issues up to that point, despite being driven very hard.
OTOH, I did go through lots of brakes and tires.![]()
Succinctly put.
No ... and ....
No.
Back in the day, Toyota had some great cars. I mean, the original Supra still has a cult following.I knew a girl, back in the day, who had a new '86 Corolla GTS. That car was insane, for its time.
After watching the recent interview with Jim Farley I am not understanding how you are justifying your positions. He was amazing candid about how far behind the OEM's are from Tesla. We get it. No one can do EVs but Tesla. They are the best. Other car makers are jokes. It took Tesla no time at all to mass produce their product. The top 5 selling cars are Toyotas. They are in deep crap.
Of course they have an advantage. Tesla has been working on EVs for a long time compared to the others. My position wasn’t about Tesla at all. It was about Toyota. It became Tesla because all the Tesla fan club thinks no one else can do EVs.After watching the recent interview with Jim Farley I am not understanding how you are justifying your positions. How many people are driving 600 miles in a short period of time. Most drive less than 40 miles a day.600 Mile range is a game changer for EV adoption. Expect share to go above 25% when vehicle prices are competitive.
