1st review. It took a little adjustment to the size of the F150, especially on parts of the GSP, but drives and rides like a luxury sedan. I’m am already regretting not getting the extended range (wasn’t an option). The truck is as advertised. Getting a lot of comments on the truck which shows how the level of interest in the truck. I’m starting the sunrun process on the intelligent backup system.

ETA: the dealership had a Ford Bronco Raptor on the lot. Ask is 150k. Car prices on certain models are still out of control.

Didn’t ever say I hated the product or the industry. Have researched and found out it is not more environmentally friendly nor is it cheaper to run or own; in fact it is more expensive.
pointing out the negatives of a product is not harming you, why are you so defensive of this way worse product than ICE vehicles. What kind of cult are you in?
Cool story. Sounds like you should start an ICE vehicle thread since this topic is as no interest to you. Bye.

The Bronco Raptor as I’d option it would have an MSRP of $78K. Don’t know who’d pay $150K for one, but it’s nuts.

Why so intolerant? A thread on EVs should be able to tolerate facts and opinions that are both positive and negative towards EVs. Whereas posting negative opinions on EVs in an ICE car thread would actually be off-topic.

Some people just can’t tolerate different viewpoints. Sad.

I thought this thread was supposed to be for what’s new in EVs and the latest technology.

Didn’t realize this thread was to debate the merits of EVs and to have trolls constantly drown this thread with garbage.

It’s whatever anybody wants it to be, related to EVs. Echo chambers suck. Different viewpoints, expressed respectfully for the most part, is much more interesting.

They are more expensive to buy right now for one reason - Demand is still out pacing supply. Musk has gone so far to say the prices he is charging are embarrassing. As for being cheaper to run and own I have no idea were you came up with that misinformation - definitely cheaper to run and even cheaper to maintain. Just ask Hertz.

Your environmental fake news was disproven once battery recycling has been developed and and is in full gear - just not enough old batteries yet to make it profitable. Once the market matures the battery supply will virtually be a closed loop system with little additional mining needed.

Again, Idgaf about the ICE vs EV debate. Not everything is a debate dude.

Someone should just start a new thread where it’s focused on EVs and the latest in that space. Would love to read a thread with all the cool EV developments and personal experiences without mouth breathers reposting bizarre anti-EV articles.

Impossible. These rubes literally message each other about threads and posters. It's like a Jr high clique ...only of sad, desperate 50-somethings who should have more of a life.

I'm with you. When you're resorting to posting lies and raw Google search results and only post here when media talking heads coax you, you add absolutely nothing to the conversation.

I’m not sure anybody is raising a debate about ICE vs EV. I think people, not me, are arguing that EVs aren’t necessarily as great as advertised, or so great for the environment. Or whatever.

And if you don’t care about anybody’s particular argument, don’t tell them to go start some other thread. Skip past their post to something you care about. Or make fun of them and THEN skip past. Easy.

In any event, it's not about what you GAF about or what I GAF about. Nor is it a majority rule, minority silencing thing. Contribute what you want to contribute and let others contribute what they want.

Stop with the Mustapha Mond act.

You sure you’re not carrying over sentiment from the CE board? Over there, there‘s an abundance of middle-school clique-like behavior for sure. It’s trolling and counter-trolling and just a total waste of time (although entertaining at times).

But while I don’t generally agree with BS’s posts on this subject, they aren’t entirely without merit at times. I just think that arguments for EVs are a bit more meritorious than those against, in terms of environmental at least.

Maybe he’s just trolling. Maybe only mostly trolling. But again, an echo chamber sucks and is boring as all hell. A little gentle trolling never killed anybody, no?

Wow great don’t care about those arguments either. This thread would be better without those posts. A new thread with a more focused discussion would be better. Thank god for Reddit’s EV sub.

Nice story bro, let’s see if it pans out. 60 minutes did a nice piece tonight on the worlds largest offshore wind farm in the North Sea off England. They interviewed two gentlemen that said the promises of cheaper energy costs since the wind farm was built have not materialized and in fact their electricity prices have increased.
so let’s see if this government mandated transition to electric reduces costs.

Two things:

1. Would electricity prices have increased even without wind farms or other renewable energy projects? And would the perhaps have increased even more without those projects? Perhaps due to economic forces unrelated to energy.

2. Even if energy costs have risen due to renewable sources being added to the mix, how do you know that it’s not a case of pay now, or pay a whole lot more later?

Maybe you should create a new thread in which you spend all your time telling other people to create separate threads for every subject you’re not personally interested in. Rather than trying to silence stuff that is fully on topic here but doesn’t meet your definition of interesting or worthwhile or Reddit-like.

Being the helpful sort I am, I even have a thread title suggestion for you. You can call it “Control Issues”. 😉

Nah, I haven't been on the CE board since they made it premium. But see the same on FB board with any vaguely Covid thread, this thread and anything environmental, basically any thread your dude #s starts, etc.

Notice they started posting here a ton only because the California EV deadline, which is meaningless to most everyone here. Most itt are indifferent at best about it.

I have no doubt that a lot of anti-EV posts are driven by a politically-motivated stance-taking. But even in such mindless regurgitation of brainwashed groupthink, a truth or two can sometimes emerge.

In any event, I maintain that dissent and alternate viewpoints are good things if for no other reason than they promote a greater understanding of the facts of the matter through repeated presentation. If a thing is so true it’s nearly self-evident, then it should comfortably stand up to criticism and/or skepticism.

Run from SunRun. They are hacks and overpriced.
Congrats. What model did you get and color? Was the dealership decent to deal with?

Got the Lariat standard range trim in grey. Dealership was great. got out of there in an hour and they delivered the vehicle 30 miles away for free. I guess it’s the least they can do since I paid 2.5k over MSRP. Mind going into more detail on Sunrun? Do you have any alternative options?

I have seen multiple people posting about the high cost of Sunrun. They gave us a quote for solar and install of charging station, but they were very disorganized, and we went with our local electrician.

First, it’s a Tesla crossover, not a supercar.

Second, how do you know the person, whose house is depicted in the photo, isn’t having electrical work done on the day the photo was taken?

Third, how do you know where the photo was taken?

Fouth, how do you know the photo wasn’t faked in photoshop? It‘s suspiciously low resolution and that always makes it very easy to add and remove objects from photos without it being easy to detect.

Fifth, even if the photo did show what the captioning describes, it‘s a one-instance example that doesn’t come anywhere near to supporting the narrative it’s trying to sell. It’s like showing a grainy photo of the aftermath of a storm that hit somewhere in the world in the past 25 years and saying it‘s proof of climate change and that we need to live like cavemen going forward to save the planet. The exact same level of moronic unsubstantiated oversimplified nonsense is being spewed in both cases.

Why do you insist on posting stuff that makes you seem like your IQ hovers somewhere below 90, which is what it would have to do in order to actually think the meme is meaningful?

You can do better.

So you mean anything that Affirms the narrative that ev's are better versus information that EV's have issues that are very real on top of the claim that they are better for the environment?

So with my Lightning, which shipped today (☺️), we are NOT doing home integration. We have a natural gas-powered generator, and we did not want or need the redundancy. Also, we get a free charging unit that came with the order (not sure if that applies to your purchase, which as not an order).

But here is a link to some great forums/topics on home integration. What is great on these forums is there are no trolls, no politics, and pure helpful information. @BellyFullOfWhiteDogCrap would love hanging out over there. There's a user over there called JustBuyATesla . 😉

Here's another list of options for home charging.

Not sure what this has to do with my post. I actually agree that renewable energy may never come to fruition and the best approach is all sources including nuclear. That has nothing to do with my position on BEV's.

Interesting read. Sounds like a lot of people are opting for the transfer switch and plug in from the truck bed. Sounds like the cheaper option. Plus my house is 100+ years old so I don’t think it has 80 amp to spare w/o an overhaul.

Mildone, I do not know the details of the photo but there are literally hundreds of different photos like this one on the internet that show EV's being charged by generators. could it be a fake? sure it could be but it could be real too!
My point in my posts is that the EV cult doesn't want to hear any dissent to the Narratives that EV's are better for the environment, cheaper to run than ICE vehicles, will someday be cheaper than ICE vehicles, and many other talking points to prove EV's are superior to ICE vehicles. Without government subsidies EV's would not be doing the business they are doing versus ICE vehicles.
Maybe someday EV's will be able to compete against ICE vehicles head to head. but that time is not now and their are serious issues with the EV technology that need to be addressed before I will transition to that technology.
