My dad is in the process of creating a nice outdoor space at their place and is in the market for a good firepit. Looking at the Yukon Solo Stove and Breeo specifically. But has also mentioned maybe getting custom cast iron one welded. Originally wanted to go with the solo stove but not sure it puts out enough heat. I guess the Breeo would be similar. What does the pack say? Y'all got any experience with one over the other?

I have a Solo Stove Bonfire, but I keep it portable. It puts out lots of direct heat if you are right up on it and as it continues to burn, radiant heat around the outside, but most of the heat is pushed vertical to help with the smokeless effect. It will also burn through wood pretty quick once its gets going because of the air circulation.

Assuming you guys are in the ‘Sip i’d more concerned with mitigating smoke than it putting out heat.

I am a bit of a pyromaniac and connoisseur of fire pits, I have 6 different ones that I burn year round hot or cold outside. I have a couple terra cotta ones, a propane one, an old Weber half kettle one. When its cold they warm you and when its hot I cook over them and they keep the skeeters away. By far my favorite one is almost just like the one below though, a free enamel washing machine drum with some legs welded on it. It looks good and you can feel the heat all around it.

I love my solo stove but there is one thing that is never mentioned that you need to be aware of. If you're standing around it, the heat is fantastic. If you're sitting around it, there is not much heat that comes out laterally from the double walled construction. So you then, end up purchasing the heat deflector that goes on the top of it. That does work. But then you're taking it on and off when you want your cover on it and still having to store it, or when lighting initially. And it gets covered in soot on the underside of the deflector, meaning you have to use gloves or a paper towel to set it.

Its an incredible firepit but know that your legs will freeze if sitting and its too cold.....

got one of these bad boys slightly used for $20, love it, deflector shield was free with purchase. I put the $500 I saved into my Roth IRA.

This SOB right here heats a 15 foot radius like no other.

I thought its claim to fame was it burned up all the soot and gases?

In the actual pit, it pretty much does. You have to fight a little buildup with ash getting moldy due to Mississippi humidity but you just wash it out and move on. What I was clarifying was on the underside of the heat deflector you will inevitably end up purchasing to get the heat to go "sideways" vs vertical. See image below of the deflector and you will understand.

Get you a good upright washing machine tub and enjoy. You can dress them up, and the custom designing has been done for you!

I bought a Tiki brand smokeless fire pit and really like it. It's like a solo stove but looks better which my wife likes. It also has a tray for the ashes that pulls out of the bottom which makes clean-up easier. And who doesn't like a good pull out game. I think solo added a tray for ashes to their newer ones, but it just sits in the bottom rather than being like a drawer like the Tiki brand has.

Solo stove puts out plenty of heat for me... And I'm guessing I use it in colder conditions than most folks.

And yes. We even tailgate at the ski resort under a blue tent as required by SPS law.
