Yep. A little chilly today, but the sunshine made it nice and warm at the gun range. Life is good in Oklahoma (when we don't have 'naders, ice storms, blizzards, quakes, fires and volcanoes.)

Pretty close to the weather in Dallas, except I think we made 45 anyway, maybe high 40s. Still feels pretty cold, until I see those folks in Jersey walking around in snow up to their knees with a little overflow from the high tide mixed in. I cannot imagine being out during that. Supposed to be 68 in Dallas before next weekend. A good reason not to live in the northeast. Or the midwest. Or Minnesota. Or Wisconsin, Dakota of either, Montana, Wyoming ...
Makes being hot in July and August seem very worthwhile.
That's right mi amigo...I'll always prefer the brutal, equatorial heat over that winter wonderland crap, and it's not even close.
I have two best friends. One lives in Plano, one in Keller northeast of Fort Worth. Both are from Milwaukee. Neither would go back, for many reasons.
Well I suppose if Bud Grant can walk around in a golf shirt when it's minus six for a wild card game, you can wear a tee shirt when it's 24. But I don't think it makes it sane in either case.

53F at my patio in Waco. This AM saw frost on the roofs. Our low so far this winter is 28F. My last electric bill was $39.21. All electric 1858 sq. ft. with heat pump.

It's a lost, metro crap hole.
Even at its best, 60s to 70s, it wasn't all that, climate wise anyway.
However, to its credit, Wisconsin has some damn cool places.
My uncle, now deceased, used to live in a little Bavarian style village named Stevens Point.
They had it so together that, in a city park they had an Olympic grade ski jump and a toboggan course. It was just way cool.
Addendum...my bad.
Due to some exploitative lawyers, the aforementioned ski jump was taken out when the city had to pay some pricey lawsuits because some dumb asses didn't know what they were doing.
All it takes is 2% of the population to eff it up for the other 98%.
It's been that way since cavemen dragged women to their cave and ravaged them like they deserved...

Not that I'm acclimated enough in 35 years of living in it to do myself BUT I did see some college kids at a convenience store down the hill this evening in tee shirts. They no doubt had plenty of anti-freeze on board...

The youngins' in Alaska, they play full contact football in down to 10 below...then and only then, they'll put on a light wind breaker, and they keep playing until dark.
Of course dark might not come for two more months, but then we're talking about a whole other thread.

I will take my chances with four seasons over deadly tornadoes. After 29 years in Connecticut, a snow blower, hot chocolate and cable TV are all I need to get through January-February.
Now, however, at 67, a migration south is in the near future. High taxes and snow removal are not what a retired couple need. Targeting the Houston area (again) and Greenville South Carolina.....but I will always have my week in Bar Harbor Maine.

The West Virginia panhandle? I used to hang out at the Quaker State refinery in Newell. I don't remember any snow.
In my years in Houston I do not recall a tornado. Two hurricanes, but not a tornado.
Well we have them. Not like the DFW area, but we do have them. Mostly on the north side and further inland from the coastline. But hurricanes are few but exist but tropical storms w/ torrential flooding occurs almost annually.
Well iasooner, not that I'm a regional expert...Boston area.
You could spend two days there and be hard pressed to see just the historic stuff.
The Freedom Trail. Tour the USS Constitution, (old ironsides) Walden Pond, Paul Reveres home. The Union Oyster bar, where JFK had a 'reserved' table when he went there.
I could go on and on, but in the interest of brevity...
Boston for sure with the Freedom Trail, Duck Tour, USS Constitution....and while they're not in New England, there's Gettysburg, Cooperstown, Annapolis, NYC (with the USS Intrepid and its air museum which includes the space shuttle Enterprise), West Point.
My favorite place on earth is Bar Harbor Maine, located on the coast of Maine, 60 miles east of Bangor.
