Get your brain fixed if politics is the very first thing you thought of when you heard Pop was retiring. One can't scream "everything is political!" when you do it yourself.

Worlds of difference between that and somebody talking about a coach retiring and one of the first thing someone mentions is their political opinion.
He is a good coach but if you use your platform to bash half the country and pretend it's still 1861 then you open yourself up. Why do I have to applaud a guy who talks his country down all the time like a lunatic. Be great if he took Kerr with him.
Oh, the exact opposite. Super easy to have a dynasty way back when. No one trained or worked on their skills back then. Everyone was smoking and half drunk from the night before. You could've replaced 90% of the players with plumbers off the street and not known the difference. The gap between the 20th best player today and G League is razor thin compared to Reds day. There were 5 players of any account. He usually had 2 or 3 of them.

But when you use your platform to make political statements, whatever they may be, you’re going to get people discussing them when reflecting on your career.
It it right? Maybe not but that’s the reality of it.

Like I said. Sports in this country are a reflection of society and always have been. So sports are very much a political issue with the ebbs and flows of the fortunes of this country.

Here’s the honest truth: when people say “ keep politics out of sports” what they mean 90% of the time is “ keep the politics I don’t like out of sports”.
You will need to do your own homework but there is a litany of examples where he has insinuated half the country is racist and talks down the country.
