To be honest, most places are just average. I like to cook and there's an awesome place to get the best fresh seafood...drive about 20 miles to Joe Patti's (Pensacola). They will steam your shrimp at no charge and it's great to get a ton, keep in your fride, and eat or make shrimp dishes.<div>
</div><div>I do like the pizza at Lillians (Perdido).</div><div>
</div><div>The Hangout (Gulf Shores) is a great place to take the family and anything with their "shaka-shaka" sauce is damn good.</div>

Edited to add "The Point" restaurant in Perdido. Hole in the wall off the beaten path but very good and inexpensive.

Villaggio Grille in The Wharf. A good friend, and MSU alum, is head chef.

Cosmo's on Canal Rd. Casual, good atmosphere, live music on patio.

Tacky Jacks for breakfast. Good view of back bay.

Cobalt. Under the pass next to caribe.Fine dining, great view.

I go to Ft. Morgan every year. Tin Top is the best seafood place in LA. Their gumbo is superb. They have a much more diverse menu than the standard tourist fried fish places. The setting at Tin Top is nice as well. They have live music one night a week (can't remember which). It's well worth the drive if you're staying at the beach.

Head down the Gulf Beach Hwy toward Perdido. Keep on keeping on through Perdido Key and go over the intercoastal bridge (that goes by the Lost Key Golf Club). On the other side of the bridge, there will be a place to hang a left when you come off the bridge. Take it and follow that road until it dead ends at Perdido Bay Seafood. They've got boats that come in throughout the day with all sorts of fish. Freshest and best in the area if you want to take some home to cook. I was looking for some snapper one time but there was none on the ice. They told me to hold on, went out to a boat that had just come in, walked back in, held up a snapper and asked if this would do. Hell yeah. Fileted it and I was on my way. Or, just get a bunch of shrimp. We used to boil it ourselves, but they do such a damn good job of steaming it that we quit. And pick up a key lime pie from the freezer. The girl there makes them herself and I've never had one better. And the jumbo lump crab comes in on Tuesday and Friday. Also on that road is a place called Fisherman's Corner. Never been there, but my parents have and rave about it. It looks like a shack, but you got to make a reservation. There's also some other little shack on that road, and if they have the sign up that says fried softshell poboys... get one.

Looking for a seafood break? Hub Stacey's on the point is awesome. Burgers, sandwiches, etc. Dive looking place on Galvez Rd. off of Innerarity Point Rd. (it's the 2nd left, after coming off that same bridge). Decent and cheap beer selection, good food, cool atmosphere with a nice deck, and throw some powerball tickets on your tab, too. Actually went to a mullet fry there once. Also, right around where the beach hwy turns, and before you get to the bridge, there's a Mexican place. Forget the name, and it looks worn out, but people go nuts over it.

Doc's does goodraw and onion rings. Papa Roccos for all sorts of oysters cooked different ways.

Ate at this place for lunch last time we were there. Nothing earth shattering but it was very good. Link: Cobalt

Bottom line, you're best dinner options are getting fresh fish from Perdido Bay Seafood (Blaylocks if you have to) and cooking it yourself. Lunch is whatever. We love Hub Stacey's, but it can be fun to go to Tacky Jacks, get ripped up on bushwackers, and watch the boats roll in and out.

Best seafood in the area that I have tried so far. King Neptunes is good also but I always have to stop at Poppa Rocca's at least once if not twice. You will not be disappointed!

I'm gonna try the place your talking about...looking foward to it. Oh, and last time I went to Blaylocks, the shrimp was way too pricey.<div>

Worst gumbo I've ever had. Definitely not worth going. I was always a fan of the Original Oyster House and Sea N Suds. Usuallycan't go wrong with those two.I will also second Cobalt as well. Only been once, but it was pretty good.

In our home in CO we have a painting of The Point in Perdido. It's one of our all time favorite restaurants. Don't know if it's as good as it used to be, but their fried mullet sandwich was an awesome lunch 20 years ago when we used to vacation at Sandy Key.

Good food at reasonable prices. Neptune's is a hole in the wall, but good. Also want to mention the Gulf Shores Steamer: a little pricey but always a favorite of mine.

It used to be in Gulf shores and there is some ****** place trying to imitate it, but steamed plates of crab legs are better there than anywhere. Look for a cascading waterfountain for some other business with a swordfish on the non gulf side. Hard to find, but I dont miss eating there if I go.

and the Key Lime Pie. BTW, there used to be a Little Dooey bbq in Perdido but it didn't last long. It was awful and nothing like the original. Not sure if Trigger's is still open in Perdido but it was o.k. I really can't think of any great restaurants there. Avoid the Crab Trap. The fish sandwich at the Shrimp Basket is good enough. The Reef has a decent breakfast. And there's a good Mexican place on the road to Pensacola. Can't remember the name but it billed itself as California-style Mexican food (whatever that is). I haven't been to Perdido in two years but I used to be a regular (family condo). The Margherita Pizza at Lillians is really good.
