:Celebrate: :Woot:A date to be celebrated by all descendants of former slaves. :Celebrate: :Woot:
I’m glad I don’t know what what this is.
Nor do you care or even wish it was a thing.I’m glad I don’t know what what this is.
Why do you think it would be locked? If it said Happy Passover or Happy Cinco De Mayo etc I don't think it would be even a thought. Those threads don't warrant locking either.In...

I first heard of it earlier this week.
I don't remember it celebrated nationally from 2008-2016.
Was it a regional holiday and recently became national?
That's what I was wondering. How could this thread possibly be controversial. Think of all the dumb holidays we have...who could object to celebrating something so monumental?
Actually the Georgia town that I lived in for 10 years until moving in 2017 has a celebration of it every year.Texas
Agreed, but posters also don’t say things like “I’m glad I don’t know what this is” in response to a Happy Cinco De Mayo day. So I’m afraid this thread will end in a lock. It shouldn’t, but that’s the way of this board these days. Why do you think it would be locked? If it said Happy Passover or Happy Cinco De Mayo etc I don't think it would be even a thought. Well sometimes you just have to consider the source. But with the moderators here (not meaning Rich, Chris) you could be right.Agreed, but posters also don’t say things like “I’m glad I don’t know what this is” in response to a Happy Cinco De Mayo day. What does that have to do with anything here? Would there ever be a chance of a Merry Christmas thread being locked or even thought of as a possibility.Saying Merry Christmas is offensive to many secular progressives

Why are you asking me?
I am for free speech
You leftys are about stifling free speech and cancelling
I simply never heard of the holiday until this week and asked a question
Congrats on your ignorance.
No being intentionally obtuse is what you're doing. While trying to make this thread controversial where there's nothing of the sort here. Bringing up the whole Merry Christmas vs Happy Holidays thing in this thread is like bringing up Easter on the 4th of July. Why are you asking me?

Just curious..:Celebrate: :Woot:A date to be celebrated by all descendants of former slaves. :Celebrate: :Woot:
Just curious..
Do you post this thread every year? I only heard of it 2 days ago while scrolling Instagram.
How about a poll of persons of African heritage slick?LOL
If you did a poll on TKR last year, practically no one would have heard of it. Conservatives and Libs.
Unless they were from Texas.
You guys should stop getting so triggered , paranoid and defensive.
Okay. I'm not being ignorant. I honestly have never heard of this. No, the widespread celebration of the Holiday is long overdue.
Okay. I'm not being ignorant. I honestly have never heard of this.
That's because it's not been mentioned in many history books. Not even those in all Black schools.Just curious..

Okay. I'm not being ignorant. I honestly have never heard of this.
Hope my dog is ready...[roll]National kissing day as well!
For those wondering why, this is a great book...That's because it's not been mentioned in many history books. Not even those in all Black schools.
PT in Tulsa tonight, I read there is already tailgating going on
This Southern boy has known about Juneteenth for 40 plus years. It IS a Big deal, as it should be.
Trump did NOT make it famous, Trump just heard about it this month.
I had never heard of it until yesterday, and to be honest that's a complete lack of awareness on my part and a bit of an indication of where we are as a nation in understanding black history and plight. Of all the holidays we have, how was this marginalized for so long?
This should be a layup for everyone wanting to celebrate this day and giving it the recognition it deserves.
