I think I remember some ranking to this effect but my google search is not showing anything. Ole Miss and Alabama are showing up...anybody have anything? Got into this discussion with someone from Alabama.

From folks I've known over the years, who visited our campus for the first time.

And, unprompted, told me they thought we had a beautiful campus. Were impressed, as they went in, unbiased.

That means more to me than some survey or poll, which may be biased, anyway.

It's the "Land-Grant SOB" where I spent many of my formative years, so it's like a second home-town to me.
I don't think of it in terms of whether it's purty or not. It's just home.

about twenty times a year, from different sites. The last few Ihave read, the person rating has not even been to any of the campuses he rated. Just using crap from the internet to rate them. So a campus rating is absolutely worthless.

Not sure about Ole Miss, but I've been to the Alabama campus several times and don't find it attractive at all. Auburn looks nice with all the old buildings. As far as I'm concerned, MSU looks just as nice has has just as much 'character' as any other SEC school I've visited.<div>
</div><div>I've never been there, but supposedly the University of the South, or Sewanee, in Tennessee is the most beautiful campus in the US.</div><div>
</div><div>It's a matter of what an individual likes ... I like old buildings with character (e.g., Lee Hall). Harvard has a very beautiful, albeit quite small, campus with plenty of old buildings.</div>

TSUN's campus is gorgeous. Fact.

I like our campus, but I wish a few architects didn't have such an erection when McCool and Allen were designed. At least 1) the new Chem E building hides the Allen eyesore, and 2) they are trying to cover up McCool with some new facade.

Im told al the time how beautiful our campus is. They are always pleasantly surprised by this as they assume it would be blah.
As far as Sewanee, it's okay. It isnt but just a few buildings as far as I ever see going thru there. The location alone helps out being on top of Monteagle. The old trees help it out as they do with any college campus.
We do have a beautiful campus. There's no doubt about that. Give us a few more old trees and some ivy on some buildings and we'll be up there with any other campus.

around campus a little bit and it is a pretty place. I was struck by how much larger MSU campus appears to be. I think both schools have nice campuses. MSU has come a long way in recent years and I hope the progress continues with Starkville and MSU. If it does it bodes well for the future in Vegas.

I think the campus is outstanding and it really impresses people from other Universities when we visit. They've done a great job in campus beautification since the 80s. Allen Hall is not in the long-term plan.

Other than that, it's ugly. Yeah, it looks nice from inside the quad but once you're out of it, the place goes downhill fast.

does little for me....beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder. I would agree with other posters who've mentioned the Sewanee campus. It's Architectural style is patterned after Cambridge University and the entire setting is quite lovely. In fact, the wife and I are quite fond of the entire area and have considered retirement there on more than one occasion.

but it isn't the hell hole that people have made it out to be, either. The same is true of Starkville.

Architecture award for best College campus.

Had nothing to do with buildings - Also was back before the General had all the bulbs ripped out, so we may go a while before we are recognized again.

I love the Broken sidewalk retaining walls - to me really classy and good use of reclaimed materials.

does in fact have very attractive buildings, mostly madewith native stone. The chapel is very impressive. The landscaping is not the best. Anyway, RocketDawg you are not more than a couple of hours away. It is very well worth a day trip just to see it. While you are there, have a Shennawich from Shennigans or if you are there at night and don't mind an expensive meal, try Ivy Wild.

whatever the college down the street from Vandy is beautiful. My son and I went through it when we were in NashVegas for the MCB. That circular granite wall around it is money.

State's campus is very nice. Adding the new dorms and removing the boomerang dorms and the Embassy.......along with all the Junction,Sanderson, other additions...has made the campus look great. Allen Hall isn't on the long range plan. It is gone. So, a new admin building will be coming soon.

Other campusesI have been to often enough to give an opinion;

Alabama: Not that impressed. I guess I am use to State's campus and how it is set apart from the town. Butit seems to me their campus feels like it isjust a part of the town ofTuscaloosa instead of a college campus. The football stadium is impressive but nothing else. Quad is ok.

Arkansas: Their athletic facilites are very nice. Best baseball stadium in the conference and football stadium is one of the nicest. Then Bud Walton........however, the academic buildings look like they have not been touched since Mike Brady designed them. Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers-Bentonville.......if you get the opportunity to move up there......take it. Awesome place to live. Youhave to become a Razorback fan or risk being ignored socially.......but very nice part of our country.

Mississippi:Nice campus. They have a few more mature trees than we do. Ifthey have themost beautiful campus in the nation, we have one of the most beautiful campuses in the nation.

Bottom line on State, anybody outside of MS sees the word STARKville and Mississippi and disregards it. 3/4 of the people in MS are Alabama, Auburn, LSU, USMand OMfans......the majority of themare not going to say anything nice.

and I'm definitely not a Duke fan. MSU's campus is amazing and it's commendable that it stays nice simply bc of it's size. Though, I'm still wondering what the hell someone was thinking when they designed the Hunter Henry Space Center. TSUN's campus has one ok spot, the Grover. The rest of the place is as 17ing dull and rotten as TSUN's students and fans.

Assuming the plans are carried out for the football stadium, the new facade will greatly enhance the appearance of our campus. Instead of stark concrete badly in need of pressure washing, we'll have a beautiful brick building that seems from the concept drawings to be in harmony with the 'old' look of the campus in general. Can't wait for that to happen. It also appears that a lot of improvements will be made to the landscaping around the stadium too, and the new picnic area for the north end zone will be outstanding.

I'm not familiar with that. But isn't the new alumni building quite wild, architecturally speaking? I've never been to the place, but I seem to remember it looked like something out of Star Trek, and even had palm trees outside ... which is strange since MSU is not in a tropical climate ....
