Projections went up a foot yesterday and a new projection issupposedto be posted today at noon. here is the website you can check it on:<div>
</div><div>http://www.mvk.usace.army.mil/offices/ed/edh/docs/bullet.txt</div><div>
</div><div>I would not besurprisedto see the projections to not onlystretchout until May 20th or later and rise another foot or even two. If the river gets that high and stays that way for that long the levee system will be in serious trouble. Sand boils will start to form and that means a levee blowout would beimminent. This is going to have a much larger impact on the Lower Mississippi River and surrounding area's than most people think.</div><div>
</div><div>Keep this in mind, this level of water has never been seen before. The levelsassociatedwith the 1927 flood are estimates if the levee's had held.</div>

and a few other guys own some property on the Yazoo River that is protected by the levee but the problem is all the ditches in the delta are going to backup because of the Yazoo River being so high and that is going to flood the delta, probably not severe but it will be interesting.

to read it. I`m about to dig my copy out and read it again. The 1927 flood change this country in ways you never dreamed. It`s a good read anytime but would be of particular interest right now.

the Gage is on the old Hwy 80 Bridge and its elevation is 46.22 feet above sea level. So a crest of 53.5 feet means the water will be at elevation 99.72 feet, which will flood a lot of land around Vicksburg. It is not official, but all of the Casinos will be closing due to the flooding for several days.

The 53.5 crest is the highest elevation since 1933.

I believe bank full means the flow stage of a river in which the stream completely fills its channel and the elevation of the water surface coincides with the bank margins. The crest stage is the highest projected elevation.

I was in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri for the flood of '93. If it gets higher than that, it would be total devastation along the river basin. I sometimes see the weather channel special on the '94 flood. Crazy amounts of water.
