How has everyone done in the woods this year? For me personally its been a rough one. Meat in the freezer but no horns to speak of. There has, however, been 5 or6 bruisers taken off the places I hunt. I must not be living right. Here are a few pics.

ETA:Thanks to DerHntr for schooling me on how to postthese properly. 11 pt scored 164 1/4, 8 pt scored 146 3/8.

Shot an older 10 pt back in November but haven't seen anything worth killing since. Thinking about heading to the farm and taking out a fat doe during these last few weeks of muzzloader in MS.

It has been alot of fun and with duck season going so well my deer hunting went away. I would rather go duck hunting over deer hunting.

Y'all duck hunting in MS? It has been a lean year by AR standards. I hear they are busting up the Gads around Lake Village. I hear some are getting limits of Mallards in rice fields around Stuttgart. But overall, very bad year in AR. I have said for years now there is to much pressure on the ducks in AR. They are shifting toward the MS delta and OK to the west. Anyway, I hope to move back to MS this summer. So would be nice hear some good news on the MS delta.

so I'm a little behind on the curve. Killed a doe early for meat but nothing else. I've got cameras all over the woods, bucks are 100% nocturnal as of 0800 (upload time) this morning (got one of those remote cameras in addition to the tradtional ones).

Scrapes and rubs showing up in new places almost daily. Rut, I hope, is soon upon us.

deer hunting. Only started duck hunting a couple of years ago and got hooked quicker than Brandi Favre on meth.

I too have a little one and have not hunted this year, but I am going duck hunting 3 or 4 times over the next couple of weeks. I have not heard of one person in Mississippi that has not torn it up this year with the ducks.

Been killing mostly Gadwalls. Very few Mallards which doesn't bother me. A duck is a duck and Gadwalls are dumber than a box of rocks so it's always fun.

I live in central Ark and it has been poor. Just now got enough birds for my first pot of gumbo on the year. I'm lazy though and won't drive to Stuttgart or anywhere in the delta so I live and die by ducks being in pulaski/faulkner/conway counties.

I think the flyway has shifted west more toward Oklahoma because while we are having a good year, it's nowhere near what it was in the late 90's. Everyone that wants to go on a good duck hunt around here goes out to OK now.

We mostly hunt public land (Delta National area, Hillside, etc.). Been pretty spotty around there, mostly woodies and a few gadwall. Mallards kind of scarce for us so far.

but finally got a smaller 8-point yesterday morning. First decent buck I've seen in the daylight. My 12 year old also killed a small buck on the 30th. Had a couple of decent bucks visiting my stand (but not in the daylight). Will try to post a pic of a nice one that has been hanging around my nephew's stand when I get home.

Edited to add pic of best buck we've seen. Nephew could have killed him the afternoon of the 10th if he'd been in his stand.

Found a scrape scouting and backed off it 50 yards and just sat down. Stupid doe almost ran into me. Then she ran off and came back to get a second look at me to try and figure out what I was. Almost shot her for being stupid.

We have gone through 3 1/2 cases of shells on ducks. The Cloud has been raining. Tons of mallards with gads mixed in. Also killeda black duck. Shoot the limit every day and run several thousand out of the lake going back to the landing. They are in thick. Good to hunt in the free state of

and you are hunting with a rifle, it doesn't matter. If you are bow hunting, it is a little more important but I would not spend a bunch of money to buy a new camo pattern and then throw a hunter's orange vest over it. That just doesn't make a lot of sense.

Tenn-Tom slough bucks. Had a few good ones killed at our places in Cary/Blanton (South Delta) and also in Bolton (western Hinds Co). I will try to upload a few later today. More ducks this year than I can remember.

That's the main reason we are having more success this year as well. There is alot less water around than it has been in the past. Plus some of these farms around us that usually lease out holes never had anyone interested so they never pumped. I guess the economy has something to do with it.

was able to take 2 good does in November, bucks have been few and far between this year with the exception of a bunch of youngster. But I was able to bag a really nice 8 point Jan. 8th, forgot to ask what the rack measured but weighed in around 210 lbs. by far the biggest body deer I've ever killed. Was going to post pictures on here after I killed it, but didn't have the patience to figure it out, I'd click profile then click on photos but nothing was happening. Been frustrating enough this year that now I'm ready to get after some gobblers!
