You think the producers listened to the fan complaints or something?

17!!!!!! DirecTV DVR didnt' record it!!!!!!! I set it to record the season yesterday. I checked my "To Do" list today and it did not have tonight's episode scheduled to record. However, it did have the re-run of it scheduled to record Friday night. WTF!!! So, at 7:30 tonight, I logged into my account from my DirecTV app and told it to record tonight at 8:00. It didn't do it!! Still scheduled to record Friday night. WTF!!!

The momentum built towards the end of the season carried over into this episode. It was very few bonding moments and lots of carnage.

I noticed the same thing. I manually selected to record tonight's episode. My receiver is still scheduled to record the Friday night rerun. It looks like it is going to record the second episode next Sunday like normal. I don't know what is up with it scheduling the first show recording for Friday night.

SPOILER...for today's episode. Book reader comments NOT WELCOME

Cut off Hershel's leg. Wow..kept saying damn damn damn damn through that. What happens to Hershel. I assume he'll be OK because 1) with a tourniquet, you don't die from a lower leg amputation (pending no bacterial infection), and 2) everybody is already infected with the zombie virus.

Awesome episode. Especially at the end.

Spoiler for those that haven't watched yet....and there is a minor comment regarding the book, but I give nothing away.

What happens to Hershel.

This is where the book differs, Dale was the one who had his leg cut off in the book. I dont' think anything is going to come of it regarding Herschel. I believe it was basically done for shock value. There is so much stuff that happens now that they are at this point in the story, that will basically be insignificant. There are still many other things to be cut off.

If you are referring to a certain person's right hand, they've already said that won't be occuring.

i really am glad that they scaled back the dialogue. i hope they keep the minimalist, grittier, almost documentary style approach instead of filling episodes with crappy dialogue and annoying "character development". i'm all for character development, but i just thought tWD has done a bad job of it, especially in S2. i thought the scenes in the hallways of the prison were the most intense of the series because it wasn't just a pure zombie slaughter, there was building tension as they turned corners and the sense of the unknown at each turn.

for those that have read the comics, i think most agree that the material that will be covered in S3 (and maybe S4? not sure where the season will end) is the strongest.

This is a point that could have used some exposition. 1.) Even though everyone is already infected, bites from walkers are still deadly. 2.) Rick was surely thinking that he needed Herschel to deliver the baby, hence the ruthless hail mary amputation.

Still a couple WTF are they thinking moments (going straight into the fenced area without thinning out the walker numbers first, and not instantly retreating when they saw riot-geared walkers), but better than last season.

speaking of the riot-gear walkers... absolutely loved the face coming off with the mask. I've always wondered, if the walkers are decaying, at some point they should just fall apart, right?

MINOR SPOILERS

Seems like the smart thing to do before going into the prison would be to call all of the walkers to the fence and kill them by poking them in the head with sticks. But that would have made for a pretty boring episode.

Another WTF: Carl's marksmanship in how he was 100% on headshots with a pistol from 75 yards out in the tower. But I guess I should have quit complaining and just accepted the fact that ridiculous shots have become part of the show ever since Hershel's unlimited ammo in the last episode of S2.

Despite all the WTF moments, I'll stay tuned.

I'd like to know where they got the suppressors?

It's convenient that they just happen to have a couple suppressed pistols to start the season with. I'd like to know how they got them. They almost look homemade. Maybe there will be a back story on how they got 'em.

Really, I have not seen that. But I think I prefer that they do it the way you mention above.

Spoiler for non readers below

...however Maverick, if you remember there is something else if I'm not mistaken.
