Apparently we are in the midst of the world's largest Cicada awakening this year. This certain group stays underground sleeping and awakens every 13 years...

then it's cicadas. It was measured at 83 decibels in my neighborhood a couple of weeks ago at the height of the noise. There was no way to escape them either.

I have never seen/heard anything like it before. People who work outside for longer than 4 hours a day were in danger of hearing loss because they were so loud. If they do make it to Mississippi, try to look for a blue eyed one. Supposedly they are extremely rare and some company in Kentucky will cut a decent sized check for one.
