Out of curiosity, does anybody think they'd stop for someone that said they wanted to talk to them while holding a shotgun? Obviously who knows what decision would be in the heat of the moment, but I think my instinct would be to run away from the road and hope to get away from their truck, not try to attack a guy with a gun, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't stop and talk to them.
I get the original DA's argument that they were allowed to open carry a shotgun and that didn't justify the victim "attacking". Certainly if they had tried to stop him and just had a holstered gun and he attacked, and the gun was then pulled out, whatever ****** decisions were made by the father and son up to that point, you don't get to attack people just because they have a gun if they don't threaten you. But if you are holding a shotgun in two hands across your body (not sure if that's' what the guy was doing) instead of with one hand pointed at the ground or pointed in the air while on your shoulder, it's hard for that to not be threatening when you flag somebody down. It'd be somewhat threatening regardless, but if you are holding in two hands like you're ready to use it that's basically a threat to use it.
