So the ole Devil is a bit of an over-achiever in that I work 3 jobs pretty much full time, including running my own small business. Add in a three-year-old Devil spawn that has more energy than me, and Mrs. Devil who also has more energy than me, I rarely get a night to myself. So it is happening. I have a night to decide my own dinner. Now what I am thinking is pick something up and get home to watch the shredding of OM. So, this brings me to my point. What are some suggestions the pack has for a metro area restaurant that would be good to grab something from? I have already batted around Kiefers, and Stamps. What say ye pack?

Stamps is awesome, but make sure you go before dark.

Funny you would tell the Devil to be careful where he went after dark.

Walker's
Johnny T's - surely the Devil wouldn't be afraid to venture down Farish St. Tonight's comedy night btw so they will probably just play a rerun of a Jackson City Council meeting.
Second on Poppy's Pies and Pizza Shack

Old Venice pizza, Thai house, Cherokee, Hal and mal’s

I also haven’t eaten in Jackson since the early 2000’s
While you’re waiting on your Pad See Ew from Thai House, head over to Sam’s Lounge for some craft beers

If you’re considering kiefers, do yourself a favor and go get aplos. Probably my favorite restaurant in the metro area right now. Just great food. Also, a good place to take your family, for those nights when you’re not alone.

another vote for Tuk Tuk Boom or Aplos if those types of food are your thing. Some places you’d want to go and sit down and eat, but if you’re doing take out, I think those will be as good as most.

Tuk Tuk Boom is really good. If I’m eating a gyro though Keifer’s is still better than Aplos. Apps has other food that is good though if you aren’t eating a gyro.

I’d head over to Belhaven though for a choice of Pulito, Poppy Pies, Elvies, Wing Mouth, and Rowan’s.

Edited to add: if you want to spend a little money go to Ely’s in Ridgeland and get the filet louisianne. Best dish in the metro.

Pig and Pint...great brisket, great sides and easy access to Lakeland for a fast getaway.

Thank you guys for all the help so far. I am learning about places I have never even heard of, and the Morningstar family is three generations deep in the Jackson area at this point. I must say sacred ground is in the lead right now. Simply because it looks amazing. But Yia Yia's and Poppy Pies look very good as well so I am just soaking up all these new ideas. Please keep them coming.

I’ve given Pig n Pint numerous chances….just avoid it now
- Sacred Ground is a SOLID choice, highly recommend the canned nachos, you won’t leave hungry.
- Poppy’s Pies is good, when I got the Detroit style, it was cold in the center. Apparently that’s been fixed.
- you can drink beer in fertile ground and QR your order for the wing spot across the street and maybe even Rowan’s (don’t quote me on the last one).
- Rowan’s was fashioned after the old Cherokee Lounge, Coors Banquets in a bottle and good looking food, just haven’t had a chance to try it.
- if you’re going towards Lake Harbour, Antojitos Emannual on old canton between harbour and rice has phenomenal Central American food. Guatemalan and Honduran specifically.
- if you’re a fan of Ramen, Kyuramen on the N. Corner of 55/Northside drive has the best ramen in town
- Little Tokyo for sushi just opened up in Fondren. Owner worked at Nagoya for years, finally opened up her own shop. I’d take it over Nagoya sushi any day of the week
- Agree with the others about Aplos. Great Mediterranean food, but the best gyro still goes to Keifers.

Great ideas. I also have had awful experiences with Pig and Pint. This is just my opinion, but they seem more about the hipster atmosphere than they do about actually making good bbq. I do not need all these weird takes on what bbq is either. I just need good bqq made with soul and heart. I have only ever had one other really bad experience when it comes to bbq in Mississippi, and that was in the little town of Brookhaven. Some place with Magnolia in the title. It was awful. Worst dining experience in terms of food quality I think I ever had. That being said, most everywhere else I have tried across the state has been good.

My restaurant is TCB Town steakhouse in Bolton. Prime ribeye, fresh snapper redfish lump crab shrimp, homemade ice cream and dessert, buttermilk biscuits, local veggies.
Your place is on my list

Several friends have recommended it to me

Maybe I mentioned it to you before

I need to drop by sometime…

I'd go to Fertile Ground and have a couple of beers and then sit at the bar at Elvie's or Manship.

Yia Yia's and Krilakis are both better than Aplos and Keifers.

Zeus Mediterranean if you want to do take out. It's attached to a Shell station on Flowood Drive. The food is every bit as good as Aplos, but you know, the ambiance of being attached to a gas station. It is a really nice gas station, though.

If I'm going to Aplos I'm going to the one in Rennaissance for happy hour and sitting outside on a nice night.

I grew up stopping with my dad at that gas station in Carthage that had the best fish and chicken in the world on the way to state games. We could not miss it. So no I am not opposed to a gas station.

What are you in the mood for? If white people's BBQ, Kenova (Flohood) and Pig and Pint. For burgers, Foundation Burger or Burgers and Blues (Flowood). For a little upscale sit down, Manship, for happen' sit down, Martins. For Pizza, Soulshine in Flohood (good vibe). For a low brow sports bar, Legends (Flohood). If you want to let your hair down, Pelican or Shuckers (Ridgeland/Rez). If you want to fight, Hwy 43 Club or Bucket Heads (Hwy 43 between the Trace and Canton), if you really want to fight, Ratliff Ferry. If you want to sample a large selection of beers and grab some pizza, The Cleaners (Hwy 80 Brandon).
