Me and a friend gonna be in Jackson saturday. Anyone been to beer fest before? Is it just to sample different beers? And should we plan on getting a hotel?

What is it, 4-7 or 8pm? Either way, it's a blast and will be packed this year due to the new craft beer law.

That being said, definitely hit up Hal n Mals afterwards for the after party, it's usually a top quality **** show. The JFP is throwing their Chickball in the RedRoom/backroom so if you dont want to pay cover stick to the restaurant/brew area on the southside of the building.

119 Underground should have some good music later Saturday night too, and G St will have the 21-35 crowd that didn't hit up the beer fest or Hal n Mals. Depending on how much you plan on imbibing a room at the Marriott, Old Capitol Inn, or King Edward wouldn't hurt.

We don't even have tickets yet. Just hoping they aren't sold out if we finish early enough to go. I think we will check chickball afterwards. Buddy's wife works for whoever is putting it on.

It's a lot of fun.

Because of the late start, we are staying at the King Edward. Gonna hopefully stuff ourselves halfway sober afterwards and crash...

The ABW increase is gonna help the promoters... Next year will probably have a lot more stuff.

They don't even have half of the new beers available in MS at he Festival.
If you are single or have not tried many different beers before then you will love it...
For old hop heads like me, I will sit it out and catch the after party at Hal and Mals.
I am in Florida right now and will be loading up my SUV with beer we can and will not be getting in MS.
Terrapin, Oskar Blues, SweetWater, Grayton, Chimay, Seaky Petes, Magic Hat, Blue Point, Sierra Nevada Hoptimum, Sea Dog, etc...

Had it from the tap in Helen, GA - a weird little town redone to be like a German/Bavarian village. It's about an hour and a half northeast of Atlanta. It's worth the drive for the German food, tubing, and trout fishing. You'll find other great biers on tap like Spaten Oktoberfest and more.

Don't forget some Arrogant Bastard. Still disappointed Stone Brewery isn't coming.

I did find a really good beer a couple of nights ago. Rogue Morimoto's Imperial Pilsner. I like how the taste changes as it gets slightly warmer.
