OT: Just started watching The Wire on HBO GO...

I'm through the first 6 episodes of season 1, and I have to say... it's boring the **** out of me.

Nothing of consequence has happened other than a bunch of cops bickering back and forth about whether they should even be conducting the investigation at all. Could we move it along please? Does it get any better?

I also tried watching it recently, and couldn't make it past the third episode. It may be a very good show, but those first two and half episodes did nothing to keep me interested.

I watched it, every episodde numerous times. I'm still convinced it's the best series ever on TV. I will say it does take a while to get into it the first season. The Character development spans the entire arc of the show.

I did the same thing recently, and I couldn't make it past the first episode.

I had high hopes since many agree it is the best show ever. I may try it again soon but right now I'm watching the first 2 seasons of Game of Thrones again to get ready for season 3. It is even better the second time around.

Aside from the snarky post, he is exactly right. The wire develops characters much like breaking bad does, what's weird is it develops the bad guys the best.

It took me two tries. The first time, i wasnt really paying attention and only got through a few episodes. But once I got toward the end of season 1, I couldn't stop.

Same here. I watched the first two episodes and gave up. Decided to try again one day then next thing I know all I'm doing when I'm at home was episodes.

I watched all of season 1 recently. Thought it was good but haven't yet started season 2.....guess that speaks to my level of interest.
