Anyone have any recommendations on restaurants and things to do in Key West? Headed south in the morning...

FYI: Southwest now has direct flights to KW from New Orleans and we booked flights back in April for $99 ROUND TRIP. This was just too good of a deal to pass up...

Awesome. Everyone says it's great. I've spent time in Miami/Ft Lauderdale/Boca/Deerfield, but never made it down to the Keys. Think I might have a bachelor party fishing down there next year. Let me know how it goes.

Well I think "Naked Lunch" is a must do, kind of unique to Key West. Yes

it is what it says. You actually sit down and eat lunch with a bunch of naked people, enjoy.

Been a couple of times now, and love it down there. Pepe's for the fish sandwich and B.O.s fish wagon for the cracked conch are always on our list as well as Coffee and cuban sandwiches from Cuban Coffee Queen. Breakfast at Blue Heaven, Sara Beth's, or the Banana Cafe (blue heaven is my favorite). Best meal I have ever had on the island was Cafe Sole for the hogfish.

Duval street is kind of like a mini Bourbon, the sunset celebration at Mallory Square is a pretty good time, sort of a right of passage to stop in for a drink at Capt. Tony's Tavern, Mel Fisher museum is fairly interesting, and the obligatory photo stop at the southern most point. We visited the Hemingway house the first time, but I could certainly have skipped it.

tebmsu97 knows his stuff- he mentioned some of my favorites. A couple more are the "Hogfish Bar and Grill"- great local dive w/ amazing food. "El Saboney" is another great Cuban spot. "Santiago's Bodega" is great for tapas. If you feel like impressing the mrs, take the boat to Sunset Key to "Lattitudes" for lunch. teb mentioned the conch fritters @ BO's, but their grouper sandwich and burgers are amazing as well. You keep hearing hog snapper for a reason- its a local fish that primarily eats shrimp so it has ridiculous flavor- make sure you try it wherever you end up. Also if you are a hot sauce fan, pop in Key West Peppers- tons of hot sauces to sample and they make 6 or 7 themselves, which are all great.

Definitely some good tips here.

I am a fan of Old Town, rarely venture onto Duval any more. But I'm in my 40's.
We always go to Mangia Mangia on Southard. very good dishes made with a lot of local ingredients. El Siboney for Cuban. (you have to order the Paella a day ahead of time.
The Schooner Wharf is a good place to get hammered and then go to B.O.'s
Five Brothers general store for the Cuban coffee a Media Noche sandwiches.

Right across the street from Blue Heaven is a little Bahamian restaurant, you order at the window and sit outside. great food. They don't serve beer, but you can go to the little store at the corner and get a 40 in a bag and drink with your food.

Best day trip is the high speed catamaran to Ft. Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas.

The jet ski tours are fun. Great way to see the island from the water. they take you to where the Navy blasted out the coral rock to hide submarines during WWII.

And believe it or not, the conch train is a good way to see the island and learn a little.

If you are comfortable on a bike, definitely rent bikes.

OK; so I google this "naked lunch" thing to see what it's all about. Click on a few sites that it has listed and I end up on Wikipedia on a page titled "List of Social Nudity places in North America". I scroll down and it gives a list of the states where social nudity is allowed. And I actually learned something that I didn't know. I bet you may not have either.

Under Arkansas, it states: Public nudity is illegal in Arkansas in the presence of the opposite sex. However, same-sex nudity is legal in Arkansas.

Why does that not surprise me one bit??

I think you should drink while you're there. *captain obvious*

If you don't black out at least once you're doing it wrong. We spent 8 hours there on a cruise one time and went on a pub crawl. It was a lot of fun, but when the tour was over our guide left us in a bar and didn't tell us all how to get back to the boat. Get 15 people absolutely wasted and then send them on a scavenger hunt in a place they've never been, and you'll get the idea. At some point I ended up in one of the said nudie bars. Since most of the chicks that were in the group were drunk and voluntarily went up to the bar, they were happy to oblige with nudity themselves, although I'll say the staff wasn't exactly anything you'd want to check out...well I guess unless you're completely wasted.

I am still amazed that I made it back to the damn boat. I remember about 15 minutes of time over a 6 hour period. And let me tell you, being hung over on a boat of any kind is about as fun as holding a hot curling iron against your cock.

They gave us one of those t-shirts...you know the ones that say "I survived the key west pub crawl"; truer words were never on a t-shirt, ever.
