Just a curiosity question. When you/family watch tv after dark, do you turn a lamp on or do you just have tv light?

1 lamp light behind and to the side of the TV on low setting.
Not fully dark, hurts my eyes.

There's four lamps on within line of sight right now. Can't remember the last time the main room light in our den has been turned on.
I keep the fireplace lights & a lamp on the other side of the room on. Main living room
Lights might see an hour per year of use. If they’re lucky.

Lamp next to the couch.
I live in a phenomenon. If NO-ONE is in the room, my wife will leave every light on. If she is in the room, particularly in the AM, she doesn’t turn any lights on. If I am (for example) in kitchen, in the middle of constructing the sandwich of all sandwiches, with lights on, she’ll turn those mother17ers off and ask me why I’ve got the lights on.

Generally no lights during the day as our windows are huge and plentiful. We have 2 table lamps and a torchier on in the evening. I set up the living room so that there's no glare on the TV from the lights. We've always been a 'lights on' family.

We have a small table lamp in the entry and one in the dining area but they're rarely on.

Lamps. I use natural light from window in my office at work. I hate overhead fluorescent lighting. At home I like lamps even some during day. My wife refuses to turn on any light during the day but our house is dark even with blinds open. Can't see to do shitt. At night only kitchen over head light and bathroom light for a shower come on. Got motion sensor night lights in plugs for walking around after lamps go off for getting around without turning much on

My wife likes to do crafts while watching TV so she prefers the place to be lit up like a Chevron gas station, I prefer cinema ambience.

always 1 lamp on at minimum, most of the time under cabinet kitchen lights on too.
This is us. We have one living room lamp and kitchen cabinet lights that we almost never turn off when we’re home. I figure they don’t use much energy being led. We will cut them off when the house is empty during the day.

During a movie - I’m an all lights out person.

Wife hates the overhead, we have 3-5 lamps in every room.

I prefer ease of use lights. Flippin the switch. Whatever that turns on I’m good with.

I hate having to search how to turn it on/off. Push/pull. Twist, twist once or multiple times for upper or lower bulbs, then the ones with the switches on the dang cord!

I’ve put several on timer or smart bulbs.

I like lamps over using the overhead lights in general.
This all day. My family knows I start flipping out when the overheads get turned on. Give me a single lamp between the couch and love seat, and we are golden. I hate even visiting other family where they keep EVERY LIGHT on during the evening.

Lamps all day. I use them in my office instead of the fluorescent lights. Studies have shown that those with ADD/ADHD/Autism do NOT like overhead, ceiling lights. Now, to really stir this OT pot: do you believe in ADD/ADHD?

There are people who don't? Boy, they're really gotten good at smoothing down some brains. Yeesh.
It's definitely real, but it gets over-diagnosed in kids these days, which (as always) makes people go over the top the other way.

We seem to have lost the good ol' level headed middle-ground these days.

We don’t really use lamps at all in our house.
There are 2 switches, depending on whether we want a little light (just the cans) or a lot (cans and fixtures). We usually have the cans on in the evenings until bedtime.
There are lamps on our bedside tables but we really only use them if I’m doing something after my wife goes to sleep.

When I get home from work I turn any lights on that are off, which is most of them. I always want all lights on but we do have large windows for sun to come through too. At work I want all lights off. We sleep with the TV on always.

I now realize that my wife isn’t totally insane. She’s at least on the same page as the pack about low lights. I’ll turn on all of them including the overhead lights. Maybe my vitamin D is low.
