Son is taking a job near New Orleans area. His office will be in Kenner, LA. Any suggestions on where to live in that area. Will be in apartment to begin with.

Thanks,

I just moved here a month ago after graduating and live in Woodlake Apartments in Kenner. The area is relatively nice but not much happening. You have to drive uptown if you want to find a good place to go out. I found it was cheaper to live outside the city and since I am working in St. Rose it is an easy commute. I got a six month lease to feel things out and get a good feel for where I want to live. Overall I would say it isn't an ideal place for a young person to live and after six months I will probably move uptown where there are more people my age.

My son says thanks too. He really does appreciate all the feedback. He's going to be on the road most of the week between Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Mobile so he just wants a modest, yet safe, place to sleep when not on the road.

It's relatively close to Kenner and if he uses Jefferson Hwy or Airline to get to Kenner in the mornings, it would be against the flow of normal traffic and it would only take 10-15 minutes. The Garden District is nice, clean and relatively safe. Not to mention there are a ton of really great bars, restaurants, parks, museums and events to take in. Rent will probably be higher than in Kenner proper, but it might be worth a little bit extra to live in a nicer neighborhood. Even if he's on the road alot, it would be fun to live in the Garden District on the weekends. Lot's to do and see.

What ever he does, tell him NOT to entertain living on the West Bank. Don't. Do. It.
