Recently I decided to try tasting local Bourbons from craft distilleries. The two I have on my shelf right now is Old St Pete from the St Petersburg Distillery That I picked up while visiting my daughter in South Florida. The second I just opened this past week for the initial tasting. It is Huling Station Straight Bourbon. It is local to me in the Memphis area and made at Old Dominick Distillery.

I will be buying more of this one. I found it very smooth and just the right flavors.

This one has a more peppery taste. Better as a mixer IMO. Very good with Mountain Dew.

Any suggestion for similar Local Bourbons?

Not technically bourbon but if your ever up in the neighborhood of Jackson TN, stop in at Samuel T Bryant's about a half mile off exit 74. Pretty cool setup. He makes some pretty decent whiskey and it's a nice place to do a tasting of all their products or just have a couple and talk to him about the process. While your there, Century Farm winery is a mile up the road. We go there a lot.

I recently tried Old Soul from Cathead Distillery in Jackson, MS. They import most of the blend from Indiana and mix some of their own younger blend to make the final product. While it is a younger whiskey, I found myself enjoying it neat out of a snifter which surprised me with the age. It is quite smooth. Seemed pricey for such a young whiskey but I enjoyed it.

Old Soul ain't bad. But THE best Bourbon, PERIOD, no matter the age, is fairly local. It's already hard to get........
