Quality Seafood is on the corner of Division St. and Caillavet St. or Desporte & Son's is on the corner of Divison St. and Porter Ave. These are probably your best bets. If you're looking for shrimp only you can also buy it off the boat in small craft harbor (next to the Hard Rock casino).

East side of ocean springs on hwy 90 is a Vietnamese man selling shrimp from a van. I have bought from him a few times. It is also where a friend of mine who lived there sent me when I would drive down to fish with him.

Lived my whole life in Gulfport. Quality is #1.

If it's shrimp, just go down to the boats and wander.

Quality was supplying the crawfish festival this weekend so not sure what all they have. Also, deseporte was 30 cents cheaper on live crawfish yesterday.

How far north can you buy live crawfish? I live in tupelo and they don't get this far.. What about Starkville ?

There's a place in Starkville that produces their own crawfish in Louisiana and drives them over to Starkvegas. Rubba Boot. Believe they sell live. Probably your best bet.

Quaity Seafod if you are buying to cook yourself

Desporte's if you want the best fresh shrimp poboy on the coast(go in and they have a small cook to order spot to the left)

you can also buy a gallon of gumbo from Mary Mahoney's on Hwy 90 to take home if you want...hard to beat that.

Dixie Crawfish in Oxford. On weekends they typically have a place set up somewhere in Tupelo selling live and cooked

thanks. I was just after shrimp but I'm glad I went to quality seafood. Cool place. I knew about the guy in OS but didn't want to drive there. I wanted to get the shrimp at the boat harbors but was under time crunch and didn't feel like wandering. I'm sure the shrimp prices would have been a lot better. But quality seafood is awesome. I'll have to visit the other place next time.

Too often these are the guys shrimping in oil spill waters, to me it's not worth the discount. Know nothing about this particular guy though.

Oil spill waters? Do you mean the Gulf of Mexico? If you are talking about the site of the spill, that is far too deep to shrimp.

Last few times I've been wandering at the boats didn't get a much better price than at Quality or Desportes. If you get there late and they are still trying to unload it will be pretty cheap, but I haven't been able to get particularly cheap shrimp when I've been early.

i meant closed waters all over the Gulf. by now there may not be any due to the BP spill, i don't know, but for some shrimpers closed waters are easy money because there's less competition. the only penalty if caught is to dump their catch, even for the ones caught over and over.

We use to always go to Taranto's for crawfish when I lived there. Live or boiled. Not sure how competitive they are now, maybe you could call to compare prices.
