I'm planning on setting up a Roku for my 70ish year old parents in Starkville. Will the 4 Mbps internet plan stream ESPN3 and Netfix? Their internet usage is minimal and presently use CSpire for the phones and Ipad. Data usage is less than 1GB a month.

Metrocast 4 Mpbs plan is $39.95 and next level is 15 Mpbs @ $50.95.

if they aren't running anything else at the same time AND the speed is actually 4 MBPS then they will be ok to watch it on one device.

It takes about 2-3 MBPS to stream the video so as you can see you don't have a lot of wiggle room. I would upgrade but it's worth trying at the lower end to see and if it doesn't work you either upgrade to the faster or cancel.

Thanks for the reply. They're not heavy data users so the streaming device would be the only device using data while watching the Roku and their TV provider is Directv. I'll start with the less expensive plan and go from there.

If you can commit to 12 months AT&T offers 6mbps for the same price. If you can commit longer, consider fiber to home. Basically I'd run from metrocast.

AT&T is not an option. Hopefully CSpire Fiber is an option soon since they live within walking distance of campus.
