Where is the drawback of bringing in a vehicle that can actually do the job?
As I note, maybe more vehicles mean more noise, which would make it more difficult to locate the missing sub in that manner?

I dunno just guessing.

And to me the fact that the UK sub has a winch doesn't mean much without knowing where the sub is. Need to find this thing first.

You smarten up you dope. What does that have to do with not allowing the British to bring a vehicle that can actually do the job, and on the UK's dime? Let them spend money on rescue and let the US go home.
If the article is even factually correct, which we do not yet know, we certainly have no way to know that it's factually complete. I suspect we don't have the whole story and that any articles produced at this stage are full of assumptions and more than a little spin to help drive ad sales.

Logically, if the US is opting not to permit something, there is probably a pretty good reason for it. That article is reporting one potential reason, but again, we have no way to know if it's factually accurate.

From a purely political standpoint, the obvious and easy thing for any politician would be to permit anything that sounds like it could help. Because not doing that invites all kinds of bad press (as we can see happening now). So again, logically, if the US is balking, there must be a pretty good reason or else the WH (any WH, not just this one) would not only want to do the politically expedient thing, they'd force it if at all possible.

What if they find it right now. Then what? There is nothing on site to go down and get it. They don't have enough air to wait for it to arrive. They need both on site.
Do we know this?

From all the reports out, I don't know how people trusted this thing. Apparently it is being controlled by an old gaming controller that I wouldn't use on a gaming pc.

Watching the full video showing toilet and AutoZone parts there is defo a Darwinian quality to the whole thing

I’m sure those “deregulate everything” ultra-millionaires on board that glorified science fair project 13,000 feet under water are rethinking their politics about now. 🤦‍♂️
Nothing to "deregulate" in the middle of the ocean well outside of any national boundaries.

All I’m saying is that they trusted profit motive alone to keep themselves safe.🤷‍♂️ Even Milton Friedman wouldn’t have been dumb enough to get into that thing.
Whether someone has a lot of money or just a little.....stupid people do stupid things. Crazy that folks thought this was a good idea.

CEO is British
none of the 5 on board are Americans
The titan mothership left from Newfoundland
It is lost in international waters

Why is the US leading the search for this thing in the first place?
neither UK nor Canada has the resources...... (tho Canada has some, and is assisting).

The Coast Guard does stuff all over the world... they are even in the Indian Ocean and the South China Sea as we speak...

They said that banging was heard every half hour for a bit and then again 4 hours later. Also said the passengers had to sign a waiver knowing that the vehicle wasn't certified. Even if they found it, I don't know that they'd be able to raise it in time.
I read that even if they did locate it, it could be down so far that the equipment they would need to raise it would take days to deploy. I think their best hope is that it got stuck on something and isn't down too far or it popped back up on the surface somewhere.

Well... you know... I mean, I also don't seek out 50 year old white dudes for many of the fun activities I plan. For instance, not a single one of my highly diverse stable of hookers is a 50+ year old white male.

What can I say. They just aren't as, uh, inspirational as a 21 year old.

I'm sorry but I can't feel sympathy for a few billionare's dying who willingly paid $250k to ride in a submarine literally controlled by a PLAYSTATION CONTROLLER (Look it up, 100% true). I'm sorry but how did NO ONE question this after seeing the sub was controlled by a d*mn playstation controller? What could possibly be a bigger red flag that something would likely go wrong???

No doubt they were aware enough of the risks, though. I don't see an issue here. It's a very, very voluntary thing and a tiny number of people.

very true. but, how many lives are being put at risk right now, in the air and at sea, looking for this tiny number of people who did did a very very voluntary thing?

since all 5 are billionaires, I hope that all of the governments participating in this rescue exercise are able to recoup some of the monies spent.

Not sure but an awful lot of people do stupid things that cause the coast guard and others to go rescue them. I'd imagine the number of people sailing out to sea each year and getting drunk or doing other stupid things that cause rescue operations is huge. I've been a hiker since my days at RU and I know a lot of people do this in the mountains. Certainly the Coast Guard must have guidelines that say if the risk is too high to personnel due to weather they simply back off, as they should.
