I always wondered who Gerald was until he taught my photography class one summer.

And forgive me if his name has been mentioned but does anyone remember the mustached, middle-aged fellow in the late 90's (probably late 70s and 80s too) who according to legend and myth had nearly every single degree at State? I always saw him walking down university on my way to class?

Bulldogs Amen was hilarious. He had 7,433 magnets on his PT Cruiser and always creeped out real late at night.

It just occurred to me that if the same question was asked of Oxfordians that the responses would tag a helluva lot different and more recognizable folks. I don't know why, or maybe I do.

Damn, if I knew his name I have forgotten it over the years. I always called him Moses so that's the only thing I remembered.

Oh yeah, that guy was a classic. He was always talking to himself while he walked down the street.

There's a skinny, older guy that rides a bike everywhere.. Has a handle bar mustache? He can be seen anywhere from campus to riding on hwy 12, I've never known his name.

There's also Circus-boy that rides a unicycle with his shirt off around Academy Village almost daily. Sometimes he'll stop in the middle of the road to do walking hand-stands.

OG would've definitely made this list years back. We were in the same grade growing up. I once ran into OG on Bourbon Street with some friends years back (he worked in a New Orleans kitchen for a spell). He was gracious enough to give us some chicken wings he'd made. I prefer to believe it wasn't due to being hammered, but to this day most of us still consider those wings to be the best ever.

Anybody remember Hot Roach? Rode a bike, always wearing overalls with no shirt when is was hot. Lived in the storage shed where Wal-Mart is now located.

I'm not aware that Gerald is racist (would not surprise me), but he is most definitely a douche.

Was this the guy that bagged groceries at the Sack 'N Save/Jitney Jungle? If not, what was that guy's name?

Who was the mute black guy that used to wander around? I had plenty of non-coherent conversations with him back in the late 80's and early 90's.

Before I scroll through all of these, easily the most recognizable is a black man (think his name is Cecil) that walks up and down hwy12 talking to himself doing wrestling moves. I would see him in Taco Bell often talking about wrestling diamond dallas page quite often. You'll recognize him by his slicked back hair and horse teeth.

1. Gerald
2. George Sherman
3. Mr. Petty
4. Dr. Carskadon
5. Jay Yates
6. Rick Welch
7. Pat Lane
8. Parker Wiseman
9. Dan Camp
10. Mike Goree (Santa Claus)
11. Bill Gamel
12. The Painting Lady

We miss anyone?

Anyone else get those annoying phone calls from his insurance agency trying to sell life insurance to a broke college student. Also owned the Holiday Inn i think.

Was that the same guy who bagged groceries and then was the checkout clerk at Jitney Jungle or whatever it was called on Hwy 12? He would talk to you. Real nice guy.

I remember this guy. He was always at Allgoods late at night. Never understood a damn word he said but talked to him for quite a while.

Another one I did not see mentioned on this list is Frog.

The waving kid...

He should be honorable mention, because he was only in the scene for about a semester. He parked a lawn chair in front of Lee Hall near the road that ran in front of the Union and waved at everybody. He was there everyday, and would wave until you waved back. I don't think he was slow or anything, he just waved. He flunked out after a semester I believe.

Does anybody else remember that dude? 2001 or 2002?

I think he went on to found Liberty Tax, and attracts his business by dressing like the Statue of Liberty or Uncle Sam and waving at everybody.
