I can definitely see where you are coming from. Those dudes are pretty down to earth and don't take each other seriously. There are some OVER THE TOP pretentious scotch reviewers that are hilarious to watch. They sit around for 20 mins swirling the glass to "let it open up". They add water with a medicine dropper. The whole song and dance feels like a Monty Python skit.I like bourbon. I drink it neat. I got to tell you though, guys like this are hilarious/infuriating to listen to. "Creamy pecan with pancake notes" good gracious man.

I'm a beer judge, and guys that analyze and crap on Michelob Ultra and Modelo while gushing over the Mexican Lager or Lawnmower Beer from a craft brewery are hilarious to me. Same with the pancake syrup whiskey guys.I like bourbon. I drink it neat. I got to tell you though, guys like this are hilarious/infuriating to listen to. Out of Kiln. Never heard of it. Supposedly, it just won some big awards.
Has anyone had it?
I have no idea what I'm talking about with bourbon, but how do they do a bourbon aged in cognac or wine casks? Is that not definitionally excluded from being bourbon? Do they do it later in the process or something?I've had three of their bourbons and the notes are good (cognac cask, wine cask, and a rum cask) but they're rough on the back end, even for a high proof. If they ever smooth that out, they'll really have something. My opinion, they'd be a great buy at the $40 range but most run in the $60 range. I sip on them but it's a sloooooooooooow sip. The Cognac is easily the best they've got that I've tried. Heard good things about their double oak but I'm not a heavy oak guy.
Do they slurp it like coffee snobs do then dump it on the floor?I can definitely see where you are coming from. Those dudes are pretty down to earth and don't take each other seriously. I'm a beer guy but I despise an IPA. I just can't stand that much bitter taste. Michelob Ultra is crap, its water with an aftertaste. Modelo is just Ok, there are better Mexican beers. I have found that if a craft brewery has a Mexican style lager its generally going to be a good beer, at least to me. If trying a new brewery the Mexican beer is usually my first pick. I do get what your saying about the pretentious crowd, its kinda funny.I'm a beer judge, and guys that analyze and crap on Michelob Ultra and Modelo while gushing over the Mexican Lager or Lawnmower Beer from a craft brewery are hilarious to me. Does Bo Bounds know about it yet?

To be bourbon it has to be aged in a brand new charred oak barrel. They then take it out of that barrel and put it into a second one that previously held cognac or wine or whatever for some period of time. It might be in that second barrel for hours, or days, or months.I have no idea what I'm talking about with bourbon, but how do they do a bourbon aged in cognac or wine casks? This reply just reminded me there was a poster that used to do beer reviews here. Can’t remember his name. It was comically bad, but I couldn’t stop watching.I like bourbon. I drink it neat. Yeah and they do a lot for ole miss too. To be expected though as that's where he went to schoolI am a huge fan of Crittenden. Old Soul gets a lot of the love in the State, but they are sourcing their product. Everything Crittenden does happens right here in the state. I have three of his bottles on my shelf. His BOB, Single Barral Store Pick finished in Sweet Vermouth Wine Cask, and his Cigar Blind (One of my all-time favorites. He can be hot on the tail end of some of his regular bottles, but the guy is constantly evolving.
In that case, it tastes like ethanolYeah and they do a lot for ole miss too. To be expected though as that's where he went to school
