Golden State just picked up Andre Iguodala and are supposidly making a move on Dwight Howard. They're going to have a strong team regardless of if they sign Howard or not, but if they get him without giving up Thompson then they're going to be ridiculous next year.

He's the best center since Shaq. I don't like him and wouldn't want him on my team, but I can understand why teams are going hard after him.
He's a known locker room killer. Everywhere he's been there have been reports that the other players don't like him. Sometimes the best rosters don't win the title, sometimes it's the team with the best chemistry. That's what makes the Heat so dangerous. Spurs, Mavs, and Thunder are good examples too.

Yea, the same reason teams in the NFL went after Chad Johnson (Ochocinco, whatever). He can play.
I agree with you on all accounts here, but also often question his stats. Is he really that irreplaceable? Can a team really not build around Asik at the 5 and be better?
I would like to think a team, or multiple teams, can be better without him because they won't have to pay for a rare elite center. Perimeter players are more abundant and cost less.
What Howard provides in dunks(offense) can be easily replaced by a stretch 4, or perimeter players. He is a rim protector, but he is also an absurdly bad FT shooter that you can't count on in crunch time. That has to negate much of the defense.
