My contract is up with ATT and I'm looking around at what else is out there. I'm single so I will be on an individual plan. I live in Alabama so Cspire is really not an option. Currently have and iphone and I use texting and data the most. I really know nothing about plans that are out there but my company gets an 18% discount with Verizon. It will be around $80 after the discount for unlimited talk, text and 1 gb of data.

Any suggestions to save some money? I feel like $80 is just too much. Can I use an unlocked Iphone on the prepaid services like Boost?

Don't know much about AL carriers but I did see where AT&T is doing away w/ all

individual plans except unlimited everything effective sometime in Nov I think. Your question about the iPhone, you can port your number to Straight Talk (WalMart) and get a new SIM card from them and get unlimited everything for $45. I don't have Straight Talk but there was a discussion on here a few weeks ago about it (do a search). My brother in law has it and won't have anything else now, he loves it.

Thanks for the help. Straight talk almost sounds too good to be true. I will check out the other thread on straight talk.

I live in the Huntsville area and have Verizon. I used to have AT&T but something happened and I could no longer get a decent signal at my house, so I switched.

I'm very happy with Verizon, but they're not cheap. I have a 15% discount, and two phones cost me about $140/month, and that's not unlimited, but may as well be for me. I think each phone gets 1400 minutes, no-charge Verizon-to-Verizon, unlimited text and 2GB/month on the one phone that has data. You can probably do better than that, but the good thing about Verizon is that you have a signal virtually anywhere you go. It even works fine in Davis Wade during ballgames.

I am leaning to switching from CSpire to Verizon.

CSpire sucks if you leave their area (MS, Memphis, AL coast, FL panhandle). And their LTE coverage area is sparse.

Verizon, it's not even close. I have used AT&T, Cspire and Verizon the past few

years.

wife has Verizon.

ATT still has better coverage around central MS and AL than Verizon but Verizon does better in north MS

just my little additions

Do you have the unlimited data package with AT&T still? That's hard to give up if so.

Since your in the AL area, GatorComm out of Birmingham, can install an amplifier to boost your signal in house.

Also I'm almost positive Verizon/Cease Fire have a deal where they share towers. Verizon uses theirs in state of MS and when Cease Fire customers are roaming they use Verizon towers. Verizon also has a dead spot between Duck Hill-Winona btw.

I think you are correct about Cspire and Verizon. And I think that is why my Cspire battery runs to zero quickly when I am out of state - my phone must be stressing about about trying to find its home network.

I've been a Verizon customer for a year. Very happy with the LTE coverage. Honestly I can't think of anywhere I've been recently that didn't have LTE.

Service during games has been hit or miss this season. Last year it was flawless, but this season it's sluggish and sometimes requests just timeout.

Starting this year, Cspire coverage in the stadium was outstanding until the LSU game. At the LSU game, my phone was often getting kicked down to 2G.

Cspire had a roaming deal with Verizon until they got the iphone or somewhere right around that time. It is my understanding that Cspire is now roaming on Sprint towers when you are out of MS. Cspire was the best deal anywhere when you could roam on Verizon. I am moving to Verizon next month because Cspire is so bad roaming now.

For someone that doesn't care about coverage outside of MS, Cspire is still a great deal.

I have only been to the LSU and Bowling Green games this year and both games, the CSpire coverage has been poor. It was the main reason I switched from AT&T to Cspire b/c my AT&T phone was useless. CSpire coverage is the same to me as AT&T in Jackson. I want my phone to work during games.
