I go to Vegas about this time every year and can usually find a good concert or show (standup comedian or something halfway entertaining) for my work group to do early, before we head out. This year's selection is extraordinarily weak... I give you my Saturday night choices:

The Hard Rock really let me down -- they have "MMA Xplosion - Next Generation Fighter" instead of music. (Anybody know what that is?)

Styx and Foreigner with special guest Kansas at Mandalay Bay (This may be in the lead. Mr. Roboto and Dust in the Wind on the same stage? Come on.)

As I Lay Dying with Demon Hunter, Bless the Fall, War of Ages, and Steel Panther at the HOB. (I know a little As I Lay Dying, but this sounds like a lot of noise.)

OR we can see "Girls Night: the Musical" or "Jabbawockeez" at the MGM Grand. (Just no.)

So, which would you do? Or should I bag the whole thing and go straight to an Asian massage parlor?

What really pisses me off is that next weekend Flight of the Conchords and Angels & Airwaves are both playing, but I'll be gone by then.

They had a huge split with Dennis deYoung several years ago and there's a lot of hatred on both sides. That's one of his songs and I doubt they'd play it. I think you'll be disappointed in the Styx/Foreigner/Kansas show. Styx isn't anything like the band they once were and I saw Kansas several years ago and just didn't think they were that great live. Actually, they were pretty decent, but the singer was terrible.

I'd go to the Asian massage parlor if I were you. I've got a wmv file you'll enjoy. I'd post it here but I don't know how, so check your e-mail.
