The key to surveillance is stealth, that rules out UFOs/other nations spy drones (they would operate in complete darkness and at 0300).

These are either US military/AF/gub'mint craft or operated by a hobbyist billionaire. Elon has stated the future of fighter aircraft will be unmanned.

Reminds of a funny story where several years ago an old couple that still farmed and raised a few cows got tired of crop dusters scaring the cattle. He shot at one, didn't hit it. He said it was on his property. Cops came out and told him he couldn't shoot them because he didn't own the sky. He told them when he bought the place he owned as deep as he could dig and as high as he could shoot. And he was serious. They just told him don't shoot at them anymore and left.
When we were kids my older brother shot a crop duster with a recurve bow and arrow. Arrow was sticking clean through his wing when he flew off. We never got caught but we never shot at a crop duster again.

This would be very very bad. This will also be very bad for Van Drew if he's spouting out nonsense.

Well that wasted 20min of my life. Damn! I clicked on the X thread, then read some comments, then clicked a few to read responses. Suddenly 20 minutes has passed and I am dumber than before.

Oh yea Iran has a mother ship releasing drones flying around NJ , what a load of horse shlt. We
Need to invade them next and liberate their oil before they send another ufo mother ship*
Not saying what the guy said is factual. But if you think these morons would not allow Iran to fly drones over the US then you haven’t been paying attention

If what this guy says is true (and I don't believe it is fora second), one would think this may be classified information and not something you go on Fox News in the middle of the day to announce to the world. Also, one would think someone higher on the food chain would be making the announcement.

the pentagon is saying this guy is full of shite. one of the "drones" they showed in that video was clearly a heavy jet, because you could see the red and green navigation lights, landing lights, and light on the tail section (it was a Delta heavy jet). And they were calling it a drone.

So I have a great friend originally from New Jersey. His childhood friend is a long time police officer there and my friend's brother is a dispatcher for the police and emergency services. They say that there are definitely drones the size of cars and nobody has a clue what the 17 is going on. They say the FBI in New Jersey isn't doing anything to investigate it and is suspected of getting paid to sit on their thumbs. Take this third hand information from live witnesses on the scene for what it is. The truth.

So some type of dirigible, big and sturdy enough to carry/support multiple car sized drones is somewhere off the east coast, but we haven't sent a F-15, U2, etc., to find it? Our satellites aren't monitoring it? When reports of these come in, why are we not alerting the nearest fighter base and having them take a look?

Rogan needs to get Elon's opinion on this.

In my part of the world at least one of those would have been on the ground by now. If some people I know thought they were getting the run around from officials one of them would take a drone down. High powered rife with suppressor and thermal imaging scope is all that is needed. We would know what it was by now.

I was sort of planning on seeing how one of those thangs reacted to a 30 rd clip on a fully auto AR-15 styled rifle. Then maybe a 12 ga.
street-sweeper with a 20 rd drum mag. Lots of options in my gun safe waiting for a little exercise.

I'm with you in concept, although Harris did bring up a good point - you don't really know if it might blow up over a neighborhood when you shoot it. And I guess it might be dangerous if it hits the ground too.

Other than that, I am all for sky busting and pass-shooting.

They are coming from offshore and way too big to be some common goober head nerd. Our Gov't is too pathetic to have a clue whether there is an Iranian ship offshore and even if they knew it to be a fact they wouldn't do squat about it

Have you seen a picture or video of any of them that wasn't clearly an airplane or a blurry orb due to poor exposure on someones Iphone 6?

If these things are really being operated by a foreign entity for the purpose of reconnaissance or gathering intelligence, why in the hell do they all have navigation lights on them? If I was trying to use a drone for a "nefarious" (new buzz word!) purpose, I think I would try to make hard to spot. Does anyone really believe the Iranians or any other bad actor would be concerned about running afoul with FAA regulations?

Homeland Security put out a press release about these sightings, brought in the FBI to control the investigation, and seem very certain that they are drones, and not small aircraft. They've also now put a temporary restriction on the airspace around two of the most prevalent sighting locations in NJ.

I don't know why they'd go to all that trouble if they thought these were just harmless and normal airplanes.

eta - Here is that FAQ paper: Definitely Drones

I might have seen 1 that looked like a legit military type drone. The rest have been idiots and trolls showing grainy shots of airplanes, helicopters, and stars but adding a bunch of "what is that?!" to create drama.

I suspect that the small percentage that are actually car sized drones are coming from nearby military bases not nearby Iranian "motherships". The rest are likely perfectly legal civilian drones. They are affordable to many people now.

Idk if you guys watch the news or not but they had a congressional hearing over it. They have police and sheriff's officers discussing them. Coast Guard people reporting that a dozen drones chased their 40 something foot boat. Stop watching MSNBC and watch some real news. I don't think the Coast Guard is confusing them with a 747. This reminds me of the Chinese spy balloon and all the obfuscating our Gov't did about that until they couldn't deny it any longer.
